June 14th ACT ****************************

^ yeah, there was another one though-- I said something about how X related to chaos theory … sorry this is so vague!

Mystery: I put it was Larson’s first book- reasoning? The other author had already written something, and her is singular.

Did anyone else get a ton of C/Hs and D/Js in one of the writing sections? I wasted like so much time doing them over and over :/

science:the graph showed that most cells are in prophase. From the slides, you can tell that slide 4 had the most number of cells by the black dots. so i dont think that u need bio knowledge to answer the question…

yes from 30-40 I had a ton of D and J

Math usually isn’t a problem on the ACT, but this time, I barely made it! I agree - at least, it wasn’t very easy!

^ wow. haha. logic totally escaped me during that part!

luckily, i finished math in time and think i got them all right…had 5 min. left…u need to do questions from 1-45ish fast (<1 min. each) since they’re easy so you’ll save more time to the the harder ones at the end (takes more than 1 min. for some).

this may be a stupid question, but:

does the ACT + writing take any longer to grade than ACT w/o writing?

this was my first time taking it with it.

trjohnson1: you should get your scores at the same time as the people who didn’t take writing-- your essay score will come a few days later (it doesn’t affect the comp. score, so it doesn’t matter)

ah, i see.

thank you!

Did anyone else put unavoidable instead of undesirable? She seemed to like the books with the assumptions more than the other one.

^For what question?

i brought that question up before but no one answered me. :frowning: i put insightful, and, quite frankly, i have no reason to support myself b.c i was clueless when answering that question.

That was for the Harriet Tubman passage.

Neatherlans FTW! easiest passage!

ahhhhh, for the life of me, I can’t remember the essay prompt…could someone remind me?

The essay prompt was “Should companies be allowed to advertise potentially harmful products?”

What was the answer to the first reading question? Was it “impressionistic portrayal” or “personification that shows Khiem can control the sea”? I thought it was the former because the passage doesn’t say Khiem can control the sea (I think it says the opposite).

Also, what is the answer to first Time Dollar question? (the one that says “which one of following best emphasizes the goal of Time Dollar program?”) Did you keep the original?

^I kept the original

I’m pretty sure that the first reading question was impressionistic portrayal.

-what was the question…assume the temperature is 22C today, so what was it 140,000 years ago…? I put 18, but it could have been 21 I think…the graph wasn’t very clear imo.

-Also, how long were your essays?
