June 2007 chemistry

I told everyone in the room that I hated balancing.
whaddayaknow? there were like 6 of them!

i think it will be fine. there are threads talking about questsions after all of the SATs SAT IIs etc. look them up. also i tried looking at them yesterday to see if they would help me study and for the most part i didnt understand what they were talking about because i didnt know the context of the text.

and why on earth were there sooo many balancing equations? the test felt longer than the practice tests!! then again it was my first SAT II

yeah, I told my mom, “God I hope there aren’t any balancing”, and I told my friend that “you can skip all the math questions and still get 550+”

The balancing was relatively easy compared to the other balancing in the barrons books…

I never used redox balancing skills… that’s probably not a good thing?? are there certain times when you are supposed to use redox nad you get a differentanswer than regular?>

I don’t use redox. One way is to balance it out in decimals and multiply the entire thing out to get a balanced equation.

so much math! harder than any practice test than i’ve ever taken. :(

I didn’t think that exam was that hard. Yeah, there were SO many balancing questions.

like, who knows what colors things are ?!?!?

I that it was incredibly easy. I skipped 3.

idk if i we should be discussing yet but copper sulfate pentahydrate is blue and i have no idea what the white one is but it isn’t copper sulfate or bromine gas. i don’t remember the other choices

color was the Cu hydrate and the … white one was choice C? the one with NH3 or whatever…

i think it was ammonia nitrate or something?? i think hg is liq at room temp or stp or whatver it said. i got tripped up on the one about adding cl ions to co2 in aqeous solution and the one after that… ugh. idk if we should be discussing either… but if someone reads this its kindof hard to understand unless you’ve taken the test…hmm…

I just got back!! Man I am sooo glad I took all those practice tests! It really paid off with the time management! Altho, the math was a bit tedious…took more than a min to do with all the decimals and wat not!

all the ARML students and Saturday religious students get to take this test another day, why are you giving out answers?

for that color question 2 of them were gases and one of them was a liquid so if you guessed you probably got it right.

copper is blue
the ammonium thing is white

Sunday people get a different test, I think.

for the sig fig problem

3 sig figs x 3 sig figs + 4 sig figs = 3 sig figs? (1.29)

yes. (10char)

didanyone get 6g for something concerning a solution of acetic acid. that tripped me up for somereason.

and

what makes glass!??!
