oh i meant to ask, was the question about birds photoperiodism?

it was the second group question i believe. and it said something along the lines of “birds being mating rituals when exposed to long hours of daylight during the spring” or something.

i put photoperiodism because it was the only thing that made sense, but I thought photoperiodism was only for plants?

hey guys i’m freaking out b/c i dont’ rmember the question at ALL with the thigmotropism and gravitropism…or w/e you guys are talking about…

can somebody please explain so that i remember…i took Molecular. Was that on ecology or something?

we should compile all the answers into one post

they didn’t actually use the words thigmotropism and gravitropism. it was the question on plant growth responses to different stimuli (light, gravity, touch). it was Bio-M.

for that part with photo…
was photorespiration ever used?

^Nope .

ooh ok good ty

Agreed. Shotty not. :)

generallyrong, no it was on the regular 60 questions of the test, fresh-man probably didn’t remember because the words gravitropism and thigmotropism weren’t used

Actually for the DNA one, you can’t just look at the antiparallel strand. You had to follow the twisting strand so that if one end of the strand was 5 prime, the other end was 3 prime.

What was the answer for the flatworm one?

And for the question about the bog with the carnivorous plant, did it ask what was lacking in general or what the plant ate to get a nutrient?

the one with the carnivorous plant i think it asks what the soil was lacking that the plant needed
i was 50-50 between salt and nitrogen and i put salt but im pretty sure now that the answer is nitrogen

i think it was nitrogen as well
do you guys think the curve will be extra genreous this year considering some of random questions (ex. grasslands vs. rainforest)?

which flatworm question btw…was this for ecology?

well I got it wrong, stating that it ate things for Carbon (a complete guess).

i just looked it up::

“In a low-nutrient environment such as a bog, plants need to find alternative ways to obtain nutrients for survival. Carnivorous plants are evolutionarily advantageous in a bog habitat because of their ability to capture and digest insects, which provide them with great amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus”.

<a href=“First Year Biology | University of British Columbia – Vancouver”>First Year Biology | University of British Columbia – Vancouver;

so Nitrogen was the answer

I can see why you would think it was carbon
Is it against any rules of any kind to have a forum with all of the answers that were agreed on?

How about oxygen, bog’s are lacking in oxygen arent they?

lol, i was hoping someone would mention oxygen. i put oxygen because of that same reason lollll, i guess i didn’t think too much into it

the thing is bog’s are lacking in oxygen, which plants need for respiration, but aren’t bogs relatively abundant in nitrogen?

however, if the question said what do the carnivorous plants EAT, then its nitrogen i guess. If it was just what do they need, oxygen isn’t that bad

does anyone know what was responsible for the responses of the 4 seeds, the plant w/ the stake, and the auxin/sunlight plant? the choices included electric impulses, hormones, and others

you can’t really get much oxygen from eating insects…
