oh, and for the question on Tay-Sachs:

was it lysosome or ribosome? i put down lysosome because it directly affects the degradation of lipids. but the mutation is of a lysosomal enzyme. so if the mutation is about the enzyme, would the ribosome affect it more than the lysosome?

and also its caused mostly by incorrect folding of a protein. does that happen on ribosomes?

the direct cause of course would be lysosomal dysfunction, but before that would ribosomes have the starting effect?

The answer is lysosome, ribosome is not correct because apparently is is causes by the enzyme secreted by the lysosome which is inherently part of the lysosome.

Well actually I put ribosome and it actually does make sense if you since it’s protein that’s messed up. It was a trap for those who didn’t know or forgot much about the disease itself.

^ Agreed.
The phrase “synthesis of the enzyme” was in the question, which would logically point to ribosomes.
However, now, upon looking up Tay-Sachs, it is indeed lysosomes. :/

Yeah if only I could reason out stuff like this on the actual test arghhhh

Hey, what book would you guys recommend for studying for this?
I want to do the Bio M in October.
Aiming for an 800.
I think I wil have to teach myself some of the concepts.
Thanks a lot.
And hope you did well

You want an 800…? memorize Barrons. srsly.

Lol looks like I have something to do over the summer
Thx

ahhhhh crap

So uh.
…
What’d you guys get?
I got a 760 and I can’t say I’m thrilled. Bio was my strongest subject during the year.
Ugh.

yeah i got a 760 as well i wanted to get higher

I guessed on several questions and turns out I got a 790. HECK YEAHHHH

ok so would this score of 760 be bad for a freshman in an honors bio course
and should i retake this test if i decided to do ap bio in my junior year

luminum_boat sent you a PM about sat 2 bio

Sohaibshaik: 760 is an excellent score, but if you do feel like you have time your junior year after taking AP Bio, it would make alot of sense to retake it and go for the 800. Just keep in mind, what seperates 760 and 800 is not THAT much, so it could be just a matter of a good/bad curve, hard/easy questions, careless mistakes, etc.

760 isn’t worth retaking. It’s a matter of only a few questions. Anything above 700 is great and anything above 750 is superb :)

I got 740 for Bio M :)

thanks a lot guys cause i was going to take ap bio instead of ap chemsitry to raise my score but now i see i dont have much to worry

i got a 780, and i don’t want to sound picky or anything, but i wasn’t like “omg!!!” i really wanted that 800. maybe if i left the ones i was unsure of blank instead of making an “educated guess.” oh well, can’t complain i guess, and i don’t think i’ll retake it. i was a lot more upset by 770 in world because i could have sworn that the huge curve everyone was talking about would get me an 800

i got a 680 on Bio E. Not bad for a freshman i suppose. It should go up when i take it after AP Bio.

Bio M - 780, ok i guess.

750 on Bio M. YES!
