June 2009 - Mathematics Level 2

^50% was right i thought?

Is a 750 on this test considered bad? It seems like everyones worried about not getting an 800. And would a 40/50 on this exam still be a 750?

Its considered good…although 770+ is the mean if you wanna compare amongst the advanced math students that took this test.

just remember that an 800 only puts you in the top 10% of test takers, whereas an 800 on SATI math puts you in top 1%. Ridiculous, I know

I got an 800 on the SAT I but messed up and got 700-730 on Math II so should I retake even though I’m not necessarily looking at the ivy’s.

“just remember that an 800 only puts you in the top 10% of test takers, whereas an 800 on SATI math puts you in top 1%. Ridiculous, I know”

Wait, then I took the Sat’s, does that mean it’s better to take the SATI rather than SATII just because such a very little amount of people get the 800, whereas many people get the 800 on the SATII, so it’s not that big a deal?

Not really. Schools that have talked about it say that they prefer Math II. Caltech, the school with the highest test scores, requires Math II and doesn’t consider Math I. Really, you are almost pulling one over on the colleges by being knowledgeable.

does everyone have the same order of questions and choices or are they all different for each person? because for some reason i happened to get a lot of one particular letter in a row

Well I think I missed the exponential regression too! Because I was stupid and put the weeks and amount sold in the same list. I had {5, 850} for L1 and {10, 1520} for L2. This is really disappointing; after the test I thought I a very good chance of a 800, now I’m looking at around 760 because of several stupid mistakes :(

Who else is retaking?

Don’t know if everyone knows this, but if you input ExpReg Y1 then it automatically puts the regression into Y1 for you - it saves a little time

What books did you guys used to study? I think I need something to do this summer.
I’m going for an 800.

Also is there a thread where I can find book recommendations for physics biology m an literature as well?

can someone please explain the movie problem

Curve is probably 43/50 because of the regression question. It is impossible to do with only a scientific calculator and collegeboard said that every question can be done with a scientific calculator.

@aluminum_boat: I used Mcgraw-hill, but at the same time, I had a strong pre-calc background.
Try Barron’s which is known for its difficulty if you got the patience though.

honestly, do not use barrons, i regret ever buying it.

get the official college board guide to math 1 and math 2. take both practice tests for math 2 and LOOK AT EVERY EXPLANATION IN CLOSE DETAIL.

Barron’s is awesome, but you have to be committed. If its difficulty frustrates you and you don’t do the work, you’ll learn nothing. You have to work at every problem until you understand it.

Thanks everyone.
I leafed though the barrons book at a local bookstore.
I’m pretty sure that I at one point during the school year knew how to do the problems so I’m not worrying about it being too hard. Its just a matter of refreshing my memory lol So I’ll get it.

Thx again. And hope you all did well

complete fail. at least 7 wrong.
im hoping to retake or some miracle curve

^Same. 10char.

the answer to the exponential regression question was 28 I believe…you plug it into a stat plot and find the intersection of the regression with y=10,000
