Why did the black author like to read the books (last question of that section)

When the woman with the RV interrupted herself to say “AM I really telling the story? Is this really all true”, What is the intent?

TO add humor? To test accuracy? To make an important decision?

Yea the professors=annoyed (starts with p)
but the correct answer tot he contradiction was that the unversity rejected the company’s data (it showed that they did not always rely on the company)

I think the one where the women questions herself is something to do with the accuracy of her memory. It doesn’t seem humorous, and I don’t believe any of the other answers were legitimate.

I don’t remember the dino/dragon question very well but I put domineering for that one…

Also, is it confirmed that the one about whales or dolphins or whatever is something then fluid? I remember putting the answer choice with playful as the second blank…

noo domineering means to rule over or control arbitrarily or arrogantly; to tyrannize
I was confused about that one too but i figured that since the author didn’t always know what her mom’s eyes were implying that meant that she was manipulative and the fact that she wanted to manipulate the area of the kitchen as it said in that part of the paragraph. but!!! she could also be domineering because of her strong decisions in family outtings. she chose to go to Northfolk (was it?) instead although the kids wanted to have more adventurous travels in the caravan.

The other choices were that the university Dr. Dong rejected the research idea of the company (which contradicted passage 2’s statement that the unveristy continually allows corporations to be hand in hand in making decisions)

Anyone know the answer to my question in what the books meant tot he author (last question of that passage)

I put for the dragon one that the space air craft was used to as a comparison to the dragon to show how huge it was?? or how complicated or intricate its designs were… actually there was an answer choice saying that the comparison between meant that the space ship was once a grand and amazing thing alike dragons…:/

hmm dang…i put that the books gave him emotional needs (it did not actually have emotion in the answer but it implied this)—it was choice C for me.

are you sure you are not mixing this one up with “trashy novels”…that was about how some books are judged unworthy to be read

The author chose books that were from a variety of places and genres. He didn’t care if they were trashy or classics because he enjoyed reading everything. His life was sheltered around the safety of different worlds found in books that were sort of an escape in his racist neighborhood. Therefore he appreciates books of any kind because reading only specific classic highly esteemed novels are not always the best read.

I think the answer was about his emotions. The other answers SEEMED plausible but the passage didn’t really support any of them. Pretty sure stylistic appearance WASN’T a correct answer.

uh… i might. I don’t think i remember the last question, it was kind of the same to the trashy novels one. sorry, its really late and yeah haha nite!

the emotions one was probably right, if anyone could post the wording of it then that would help me understand it better. sorry if i wasn’t much help :c

I’m a pro tutor and I took it today. I thought the CR was pretty reasonable…except for the last part of the commercialism/universities/aka Dr Dong (LOL) double passage, it got pretty hairy there for a sec. It was section 9, I was fatigued and at risk of my mind wandering, to top it off the stupid proctor started doing her chores of taking down all the art and crap from the walls making all this noise. I had to ask her to knock it off, and I managed to buckle down and pick all the right answers (i think). The 2nd passage especially was a little hard for me to pin down, but after really studying the answer choices it came into focus.

Did anyone else find that part hard or was I just zoning out a little?

Also the question in the caravan passage about the capital letters “Travel in the Modern Way; Go Wherever You Choose”, I waffled a bit on that one. I picked that it gently pokes fun at something or other.

cricket: I said it was expressing a need, since the verbs were pretty strong like “desperately devouring”

I had a question though: There was this SC that tripped me up, it was about a Native American work and it had a single blank, and the answer choices were like “synopsis, outline, etc.”, and I think it was the first one

Do any of you remember that, or was that in an experimental?
