June 2010: Biology

A 76/80 is 95%, which corresponds to a 780 on the [SAT II Subject Test Percentile Ranks](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools). Although, it could be a 790 depending on the curve. 780/790, not that big of a difference, imo anyways.

I missed the entire section on plant tissues. What’s considered a ‘good’ score for this test?

What bobraymund said is right, the tests I have say 780 to.

The definition of a “good” score is really relative to the colleges you wish to apply to.

However, in general, I would say anything 720 and up are good scores. I mean, the difference between a 790/780 and a 800 is so minimal that I don’t think colleges would even care.

@ditzy i put producers have more energy because that was definitely correct.

for the allelle question of the insecticide i put 1 2 AND 3 because 3 was equal reproductive success for AA and aa… tht does maintain both alllelles…idk someone comment on tht

and for the question asking which organelle contained DNA, it was mitochondria AND nuceus right? was there an answer choice with just nucleus?

and what did u guys get for the algae question, the design cud help you know the role of…?

I thought that the recessive mutations in the polyploid would be more prominent than those in recessive mutations in the diploid, cuz more chromosomes would be affected.

@violinplayer
what were the other choices?

does anyone remember the questions on the daphnia experiment?? it was something about that there were two species of algae, a few experiments were conducted, and there were some fish involved. the questions was something like which experiments could be used to show competition between species?? what was the answer to that??

it was like

There is no difference
and i think there was a choice that was the vice-versa of my statement

the last question on bio-e
wouldnt have been 5, because it was a repeat of 2?
thats what my friend said…but either way i put 5

what?? that makes no sense violinplayer

@jun1orz

im pretty sure it was graphs 1 2 and 3

um yes it does… if u remember the question.

The question involved mutations in a polyploid plant and it was askign which of the following was true:

There is no idfference between the mutations in a polyploid and a diploid plant
There is a more prominent effect in the recessive mutations of a polyploid plant than a diploid one.
There is a more prominent effect in the recessive mutations of a diploid plant than a polyploid one.

@juniorz the choice that had 500/500/0 because it was only the two species and not the fish was the answer, because the 3rd fish/category would null the experiment due to extra competition

YESSSS I <3 violinplayer cause thats what i got too…
but there was also another choice that was like “there is less chance of a recessive trait occuring than in diploid plant” and “there is more chance of it occuring in a haploid species”

^ oh crap. we might have gotten it wrong then.

now idr waht i put loll

^what was the exact question? if u remember

recessive mutations in polyploid organisms are…
