***June 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

@sat2014‌ I don’t mean to intrude especially since you didn’t ask me, but I got an 11 both times. I actually used Bill Gates this time! Maybe you already know this but try to go in with three “SAT” words picked out and MAKE them work into your first two paragraphs and then keep writing until you hit the bottom of the second page. I think using 2 examples would be better so you can expand on each idea a little more. I thought my essay was crap this time but obviously the formula still worked.

about character. also should I not use personal experience examples and maybe instead use literature and history instead of people that exist today?

Yeah, just like @audit5 said. Dude, great job on your 2400, I really envy you. @sat2014, just focus on examples you can somehow back up or explain better. I think throwing in a couple good vocabulary words in the beginning helps too. I usually started out a bit general, and kind of dug deeper during my examples. I think planning your examples also helps out too, before you start writing. I did get the same prompt also.

I don’t think I can say much more, but just don’t think the essay graders are going to be so holistic, because it just stresses you out more.

Personal examples are fine, but make sure you don’t just tell them a story and end the paragraph with a nice ending. You want to hit on the reasons why your own example relates to the topic so well. I think summarizing your personal experience may be a good thing to do, unless if its short.

Once my essay comes out, I want you guys to read it and please score me. Don’t be nice, be honest. Felt my essay should have been a 10

i got a 2360 guys!! close enough to perfect for me. omg i’m just so excited rn

CR 760
Math 800
Writing 800, MC 80, Essay 10

2220 --> 2360. hard work and studying WILL pay off one day, guys.

@auditi5‌ got any tips on how to go up 300+ points? 1570 1630 and 1620. I’m stuck in a land of mediocrity. :frowning:

2120…770 M 700 CR…horrible 650 in writing…only got a 8 on my essay…although it is a 2120 I am still disappointed and I am confident that I can get my essay and writing up so I can get above a 2200…good luck guys in October.

P.S. I also took the ACT, no preparation, got a 31 composite score. I was slightly impressed since I didn’t study, but I am going to retake this too.

Good luck guys!

omg omg oomg congrats presque!!! :-bd

@sat2014 i jumped 250 points so i would def say its possible. i’ll tell you what I did in between but there are lots more detailed guides online. I’ll see if I can find this particular one, but another one is by “silverturtle”. basically, the tried method is true, practice practice PRACTICE the blue book. If you’ve taken Alg 2, then you already know everything on the math section, it’s just in a form of a tricky question. I did 7 of the 10 tests in the BB. My other weak spot was vocab so I got both Direct Hits editions (both online as pdfs as well). Oh, I also used “Blackburn’s Guide to SAT Writing” and that bumped up my W score which was my weakest coming out of sophomore and into junior year. Good luck next time around!

thanks @Jellybae‌ <3

@auditi5‌ we must know… were you on team awed/confused??? and CONGRATS BTW bb

auditi you’re so adorable haha

@auditi5‌ thanks, have to make my final time count

@presque @jellybae thank u both! and congrats on your scores as well!! <3

i was team awed… like they have cars in Africa maybe not that much traffic but he didnt seem like he was looking at something unknown and became bewildered

So…I did horrendous, and I am in depression and I just went straight back to sleep, this is THE worst day of my life.

660 CR, 690 Math, 730 Writing… Guess I can’t be too mad about that because I went up nearly 100 pts.! Congrats to everyone else that did well (still envious of everyone above a 2300 :(( )

I might actually be depressed like I might need medication for this.

@scarlettlovesivy‌ ls this your first time? This was my first time and I only got an 1810 (bad on some people standards, good on a lot more people’s standards), but I just want to get into a state school. My CR score brought me way down, so I’ll be studying for that. Honestly, not being satisfied with your scores will just motivate you to study even harder. I felt the same way with my 24 ACT, but that helped me to work harder for my SAT. I will be retaking my SAT and I hope you do the same, I know you’ll get your desired score if you just believe. good luck

@christen876 No, this is my second time and my scores went down A LOT in my opinion. I had a 2090 and I got an abysmal 1980 on this SAT. Did I not study? NO I studied A LOT. and please to anyone thats going to say if you studied and your score didn’t go up, then your score isn’t going to increase much, please hold your comments, Ii already feel like ■■■■. (Not you ahah) Same, my CR score is absolutely HORRENDOUS, I can’t even say it. I will be retaking it and I just can’t find it in me to feel better and get back to working, I feel dead inside. Maybe a 1980 is good by some standards, but for me, it’s really not and my score went down. Also, for someone like me who is aiming for ivy and a 2300, its just too much to handle right now. I appreciate it though, thank you, i wish you the same
