My second time taking the ACT, bumped up the composite one point this time. I didn’t study at all the first one and got a 29, this time I took one practice test and even went to a concert the night before the ACT and still got the point bump! My math has been the same both times, any advice on how to bump it? I’m looking at a school that superscores the ACT so if I got the math up to a 30 I’d be looking at good scholarship $! Thanks to anyone with advice or similar instances!
Got my scores back and idk how to feel…

I feel like I have great potential in math and i just can’t seem to prove that on the ACT. This was my second time taking this test and both times ive gotten 27 on math. Any tips or prep books i could use to help foster change in my math score? Any help would be appreciated, and best of luck to you all. Ill be retaking again September (;
I’m still ‘registered’ and I am so freaking mad rn…
My essay score just got posted! Got an 11. Is that decent? Not really sure how the essay bit works…
My son’s scores are up. He’s up from a composite of 28 to 31
31E
27M not sure what happened here, he scored a 700 on SATs
34R
32S
He scored a 1970 on the SATs, with a CR/M score of 1360
He’s done taking tests. He says no more!
Too much stress.
@noneoftheabove That’s a great essay score! 11 out of 12. Congratulations!
Still no scores. Guess I need to find a really good distraction
I still have no idea how I jumped from a 25 to 34 on the Science section. This was my 3rd time taking it and I had gotten a 25 on both of my previous times. I felt good after taking that section, but I still have no clue how I was able to raise my lowest score to my highest score with barely any prep. I guess I just magically understood the passages much better this time around, they didn’t seem as hard as April’s.
My son’s scores were posted this morning, right before/after 9 am apparently (I had checked before 8 am EST and it was still showing “registered”). His composite held at 31 - came up in math which I thought he would since he took SAT math Level 2 the week before and had done extra math prep). Otherwise he couldn’t prep at all for the June ACT as he just started an intense dual enrollment course.
I’m a little bummed he didn’t inch it up a point or two, but on the other hand I can’t complain either. He completed the main objective which was to bring up the math.
@Jkingx3 - we had the opposite happen in Science . . . my son went from a 34 in April to a 32 in June. Not sure what happened there. I read many comments that the April Science section was very difficult, and my son only missed 3 questions. Don’t know how he slipped in June - science is usually his strongest area.
Congrats on that jump in Science - great job!
@ThreeRedheads Thanks! I’m so happy!
@noneoftheabove - I’d chew off my pinkie finger if my son had that writing score (JK!). Great job!

Really ecstatic right now. Essay scores still aren’t up though.
@noneoftheabove , an 11 is a great score, since 12 is the highest LOL. Anything 10 and up is in the 99th percentile. Thanks for posting that your score was up, just checked son’s and he got a 10.
My son’s writing score isn’t up. If I remember correctly, it took a few weeks for it to post last time. We’ll keep checking.
my score was up early morning today! i’m pretty happy

Do you think I should retake this because of the horrid math score? Or am I ok for schools like UCLA and UCSD?
My scores still arent up… another week of anticipation.
33 is a great math score. It’s 98th percentile. You should be fine for UCLA and UCSD.
Does the essay ever increase your writing score?
My English decreased with an 11
