***June 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

As I mentioned earlier, my D2’s science and writing both went down significantly this time as well. :-w

My scores came in. Disappointed… Thought I could bump it up from the 15 I got in April but it went to a 14…
Science: 13
English: 15
Math: 14
Reading:14
With a 2.1 GPA and a 14 can I do anything with that?

Was the curve for this test harsh? Because my score went down by one point… So disappointed

Just got writing in. Here’s a comparison of scores April 2016 vs June 2016:

April:
C: 30
E: 35
R: 30
M: 28
S: 27
W: 27

June:
C: 30
E: 33
R: 31
M: 30
S: 24
W: 26

All I want in life right now is a 33, but it appears that I’ve stagnated for the moment. These writing scores, though not factored into my composite, are not helping much either. I don’t get why my writing score went down a point because I know my June ACT essay was WAY better than my April ACT essay. I know I’m not the first to be fed up with ACT writing, especially since I’m one of many who does exceptionally well in AP English (you know, straight A’s and whatnot). Kind of lost on what to do next  Even if I decided to go with the SAT (waiting for June scores), there’s no September SAT, and I have EA apps that are due before scores will be available.
Why must the world of testing screw over the class of 2017…

@thefloridavegan you can take SAT October and November for EA.

April
C: 30
W: 33

June
C: 35
W: 20

Whats going on…

@pillowspillows many of the top schools either superscore the ACT, look at the highest subscores but don’t recalculate composite, or look specifically for the highest composite and the highest writing/ELA score. Apart from Rice and a few others, most admissions counselors will see only the 33 on writing, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the 20. I would recommend not to retest since a 35 is fantastic and the only way Rice and those other schools would see something other than the 20 would be if you got higher than a 35 on the next test. Plus, you don’t want to appear overly obsessed about test scores.

“Standardized testing should not become one of your extracurricular activities! We’d rather see you spend your time pursuing your curiosities and interests, and most students don’t see significant score improvements beyond their second or third sitting for a given test.” - Duke Admissions

First time taking it.

C- 33
E- 32
M- 33
R- 33
S- 33
W- 23

Disappointed on my writing score, but probably won’t retake just because of that.

got a 21 on my writing. Much better than last time

@springawakening1 No worries. The writing was so inconsistent this year and I think colleges will realize that. A 23 is in the 83rd percentile, which is actually decent

I can’t believe that I still haven’t gotten my act scores back. It’s been almost a month. Should I email a complaint letter to the act?

People have waited much longer. Just wait, it will come.

Got a 34 composite with a 21 writing. Is this an error? Should I file for a rescore or is this fairly normal?

@RowtyTeen, if I were you, I’d file a re-score. Your composite and writing scores don’t really match up, which is somewhat alarming, seeing as I’d assume your English and Reading scores were pretty high.

Does anyone still remember the issue in June 2016 ACT Writing Prompt ? I’m taking the test in this September and need more prompt to practice. Thank you.

The essay isn’t factored into the composite score. I got a 36 on reading and writing and a 29 on the essay so yeah.

For science can someone explain number 39 to me? That’s the only question I got wrong on the whole test and I’m totally lost.

@lolmanlolify You already got your TIR?

I haven’t gotten my scores yet. Does anyone think this could be a problem?

Just a reminder to the few users here asking for specifics on the test, we are not allowed to discuss specific prompts, answers, and questions on the ACT tests. If you get caught doing it your scores can be cancelled.

@Its5269 I would call ACT and ask about your score. You should have them by now.
