Yeah i put “spate” - it fits in perfectly. Revival is too easy a word to come on the last SC anyway.

doesn’t “spate” refer to water?

I put revival

does anyone remember last questions on section 2 about motorcycling?

I thought the answers were sth about misconception…

I remember one answer was ‘meticulous’…

motorcycle

-no time to talk to strangers
-sth about seeking the truth and then overlooking ot
-close interaction with the environment

encyplopedia
-exquisite meticulous
-biased narrow-minded?
-topics that interested the author

please post all the answers you guys remember…

Got all those for the motorcycle.

Hey for encylopedia I think one answer was the wide range of topics in the book or something?

ah…I chose topics that interested the author for that one…

I believe the question was why the author listed all the entries she read in the book.

But the topics weren’t wide, all about scientific innovations…

Only my opinion…

what was the purpose of the encyclopedia passage? Was it “to examine an absorbing pasttime to make observations”?

Also, what was the purpose of the black women passage? Is it “explain content, purpose, or ramifications of a particular essay” or “to encourage more schools to incorporate black women studies into their curricula”?

yeah
to examine an absorbing pasttime to make observations"?

explain content, purpose, or ramifications of a particular essay

“to encourage more schools to incorporate black women studies into their curricula” is too broad and irrevelent to the passage

Yeah I got both those answers

BTW for one SC, did you guys pick an answer which had ‘avarice’ as one of the words?

Positive on “avarice”

Awesome :)

for the motorcycle one, there was a question like
“What does the author intend by saying ‘boring hinterlands?’”
is the answer “introduce philosophical distinction” or “criticize a popular misconception?”
i didn’t think the latter was right because the misconception wasn’t a “popular” one since the author just said he and his friends used to think the country was “boring” :S

i chose misconception,

anyone remember perfunctory in sc?

I put that the scientists haven’t yet examined a live squid because passage 2 speculates about how it may be a bad thing if we were to find one. Was the answer to one of the questions that “it’s both a good and bad thing” btw? Or was it a “deplorable occurance”?

Anyway, I have difficulty accepting the subjects of the biographers answer. I clearly remember that passage 1 discussed how hard it was to talk about real life because it’s boring. There was no mention of a novel other than the fact that the author is a novelist. What did you people get for the second question on that passage? What the author does by laying out all the examples? I was torn between juxtaposition and choice A, but I chose that it is unbelievable because there was something about that later in the passage.

i put
-scientists haven’t yet examined a live squid
-‘boring hinterland’ misconception
-exquisite=meticulous
-wide variety of topics for one of the questions in the Encyclopedia thing
-revival instead of spate(seems to be wrong)

can anyone put up more questions?

i can’t remeber most of the test question now…lol…but i am pretty sure about the “meticulous”…my short passage was dommed…

i chose “detached from the world” for the “frame”

anyone can explain why should choose “experience”?
