I want my phd in pure math, and I’m doing everything I can to “look good” on my grad application becauase I come from a small school and I want to get into a highly ranked grad program. I applied to a bunch of summer programs and I dont know which one will look the best. Most of them are “REU” programs that are based on undergraduate research, but some are based more on coursework with “research-like projects”… Normally the REU would be a better choice but the only schools I could find with REU programs weren’t all that impressive - whereas I got accepted into an ivy league program that is split between coursework and projects…

I guess my question is should I go with the big-name school or the research experience?
