ACT: 1st Take - 19 Retake - 26
SAT: Unavailable
GPA: 3.8
High School GPA: 2.5
Currently Attending: Northeastern Illinois University

Extra Curricular Activities - Aikido Club, Students Against the War, the Sociology Club, Freshman Leadership Institute, Honors Society and Anime Club

I am also in the NEIU Honors Program.

what year are you? those act’s and hs gpa will really hurt you if your in your first two years of college

make sure you can really distinguish yourself at your current school, oberlin is probably a bit more likely to take a tad more holistic approach to applications and perhaps overlook a flaw in an application if they feel they have an applicant who will really fit in with the atmosphere and has distinguished themselves at their current institution

Hmm, thanks.

Well I’m hoping to do an interview next month explaining my situation in high school and how that’s really changed from now. I’m currently in my sophomore year at NEIU so I still have some time to do some more extra curricular activities. I also hope to be more evolved in community services associated with the university’s programs.

EDIT:
I’m going to apply March 15, 2008 for the Spring Term. By then I will have 30 college credits.

its not so much about racking about ec’s to throw on your application but really making yourself stand out

What exactly do you mean by “standing out?”

as the saying goes, “quality, not quantity”

if an individual is taking ec’s just to put them on your application that will not do it itself

demonstrating leadership qualities, doing something unique in your life, awards, a passion, a cause, there are numerous ways to distinguish yourself and you can bet most people applying to oberlin have their own twist…make sure you have yours, whatever it may be

No problem. Thanks a lot. I was thinking about taking the presidency in the Honors Society but then again I wanted to balance the other ECs. Well I’ll drop some I guess and I have been participating in them since last year. I’m also going to become the secretary of the Anime Club. I’ll try to take on some more leadership roles and see where that takes me.
