Hey, new two the forum. I am a rising junior at shaw university in Raleigh North Carolina who is thinking about graduate programs in political science in the Chicago area
I plan two take the gre in feburary but would like two know what I have two do two help my chances, I have study abroad experience, a 3.7 gpa and have a few internships under my belt with more two come. Any help will be thank.

Schools:
1.UChicago
2.Northwestern
3.Loyola Chicago
4.Notre Dame
5,University of Illinois

Any of your professors have a professional relationship with any profs at the colleges you listed? A LOR from someone who knows you and can write nice things about you to a colleague is a boost. Too bad you didn’t do a summer program at the schools you want in anticipation of applying to grad school.

Hi Willrobawc, you certainly have a good gpa and will probably do well in admissions. I hope you realize that not all the schools you mentioned are in Chicago; Notre Dame is a couple of hours away, UI is about 3 hours away. If you are looking at those kind of distances, perhaps you might be interested in UW Madison or Marquette (in Milwaukee).

I realize Shaw is a very small college but you would still be well served getting some research experience. Perhaps an independent study credit or working with a faculty member on a project at nearby UNC or NC State would be helpful.

Two = 2, Too = also, To = preposition. Best of luck

Thank you both for the advice that was giving, and the grammer advice with the word two or to. Thats a problem that I need two work on. Yes I realize that not all of the schools are in chicago and I will take a look at UW-Madison or Marquette.
