Junior: What are my chances for E.D. Wharton, UPenn

<p>Hey guys, I’m a junior this year and I’m already getting antsy about college apps for next year. I already decided that I want to apply to Wharton early decision. What are my chances? If you could help, I’d be most appreciative.</p>

<p>We researched the first organization very carefully. It is a certified not-for-profit organization. We met Claes Nobel, a board member and descendant of the family who created the Noble Peace Prize. They also have quite a few Nobel Laureates on the board of advisers and even a vice president from (Bill) Gate’s foundation and the president of the International AIDS Trust. Its student council has several students who are attending Duke, Yale, Harvard, UPenn, Stanford, MIT, etc. I actually won quite a few scholarships (IBM, AF) through this organization.</p>

<p>I was unsure about the second one. It was an application only recognition with no induction or registration fee, so I just did it. I probably will take this off my resume.</p>

<p>I’m just getting worried because my friend who is a 3-5 generation legacy got rejected early. Although her extra-curricular are nearly flawless (numerous presidents, 3 varsity sports), her GPA was only 3.5 unweighted. </p>

<p>Note: After a few calls from her grandparents, she got in O_O.</p>

<p>In general, Wharton requires at least a 3.9878.</p>

<p>You took 10 AP tests before Junior Year? If that is true you have one of the top 5 resumes I’ve ever seen on CC so you should be beyond fine. Also, this isn’t applicable to your Wharton app, but when you apply ED to UPenn you should also consider applying to a safety school under Rolling Admissions so you don’t have to worry about it in case you get deferred by Wharton. Some matches/safetys that having rolling admissions are Ross (UMich), Hass (UC Berkeley, I think its rolling admissions someone correct me if I’m mistaken), McCombs (UT-Austin, again I’m assuming its rolling because its a state school)</p>

<p>They are all top business schools Hass is ranked 8th in USNWR and UT-Austin is first for accounting, UMich is third for accounting, Wharton is second for accounting. These rankings don’t really mean much but its just some reassurance that they are good schools. If you get an acceptance early you’ll feel much more relaxed during the regular admissions process.</p>

<p>With those kind of credentials I think you have a great shot at almost every school you apply to. I would be droooling over that resume.</p>

<p>choose your teachers carefully to write your recommendations, proof read your essays, and i think you have a very good shot.</p>
