Junior year grade drop

Ok so I had a pretty solid freshman and sophomore year, I took all honors with straight a’s across the board. I had a 3.8 freshman and 3.7 sophmore. My grades seriously took a hit junior year though
Honors pre cal B, B+
honors physics A-, A-
Ap chemistry B+, B+
Ap english 3 B+, B+
Apush: A, A-
Psychology A, A
Photography A, A
I know these grades arn’t exactly the worst but its more B’s than in used to getting. My act is 32 and sat was 2100. I know admissions isn’t all about grades but despite my junior year am I still a competitive student for: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UT Austin, Carnegie Mellon, Washington U at st louis, or USC?
PS: the classes I took where the hardest my school offers

Those are not bad grades by any means! Of course B’s are not ideal, but colleges also look at the rigor of your courseload, and since you took the hardest classes, you will still stand out.

Your ACT and SAT are also great, so if you have strong extracurriculars and leadership then you will definitely have a chance at those schools. Some may be reaches, but you should still try.

For the UC’s, only 10-11th grades are used for their GPA calculation, so 9th grades will not help you. You can calculate your UC GPA using this site: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/</a>
Your ACT/SAT are competitive, but you want to have a UC GPA of 4.2 (capped weighted) to be competitive for UCB and UCLA. Both schools will take into account your course rigor.

Depends on how rigorous your school is. If you can improve and get straight-As later on, colleges will recognize that you improved at the hardest available courses. They like that. You’re still competitive to places like Carnegie Mellon, Wash U and Austin. Berkeley is probably a reach now, but at 17% it’s a reach for most people. If you have competitive ECs you should definitely still apply to UCB.
