Junior Year schedule help

I need help and advice with my junior Year schedule. I do want to get into a good or top college and want to go out of state. I am currently in Texas.

Current 10th grade schedule:
Medical Terminology (On level)
Honors Chemistry
Honors English 2
Varsity Golf (Double blocked)
AP Statistics
AP World History
AP Pre-Calculus

Junior Year schedule:
AP Lang
AP Biology
AP Calculus BC
AP Psychology
AP US History
Varsity Golf (Double blocked)

LAST CLASS HELP
1st option: PCIS (Career Independent Study) (AP weighted but I think it’s changing to a Honors weight my junior year)

  • I think this could be beneficial because I can get internship, mentorship, and interviews with people in the careers I am interested in.

2nd option: Different AP class (taking recommendations)

Also wondering if dual enrollment is a good option and wondering about the benefits.

Where is your 2nd language - did you already complete through AP?

I already passed of my Korean language credit!

What does this mean? Did you take classes (if so, how many/what level) or did you pass a proficiency test and test out of it?

Agree with @worriedmomucb - are you a native/heritage speaker? Is the credit equal to 4 years of language study for colleges, is it the Texas minimum requirement for graduation or does it fill the need for schools outside of Texas and the more competitive state schools. I am asking, as I don’t know and want to make sure you understand if it could be limiting and how it is viewed by colleges both inside and outside of Texas.

Has your math teachers approved Calc BC? That’s way advanced for 11th grade, even AB is.

We see kids who self assess BC and then don’t do well. Make sure you teachers are directing you.

We need at least 2 years for language credit but I took a test and tested out of it so I have a total of 4 credits.

Math has always been a strong aspect for me. I have always been on the advanced math track. I will ask my teacher to see which one he thinks I should do! Thank you.

So did you take language classes?

Depending on your college goals -
many colleges will want to see at least 2 full years and ideally 4 full years of language study. I would advise you to speak with your HS counselor and understand what recent college acceptances look like for students with the language test vs actual in school course work and if this aligns with your college goals both for location and affordability.

To me, it could be limiting - but again I am not familiar with Texas college requirements and if this certificate is the norm. I know from my kids experience, all their HS took 4 years of a language - it was not optional - if you were a native speaker (for example Spanish) you took a different language those 4 years.

So you never took a foreign language CLASS? If not and you are shooting for selective colleges, it might be good to add one if you can. You could do it through dual enrollment with a local community college as that will likely get you where you want to be much faster (equivalent to two, better three, HS years - can be done in two semesters of CC usually).

Doesn’t matter because:

So I agree with you that lack of LOTE could be limiting if the OP is shooting for
