Just a quick little survey...

How many of the EA applicants here drink alcohol or use any sort of drugs?

Alcohol…yep.
Drugs…never appealed to me enough to even stimulate a TINY bit of interest…

drink alcohol? No. (except the time i drank wine when i went to a jewish synogogue)
Drugs? No.

alcohol-no. i hate those carbonated drinks, including soda. wine is just horrible.
drugs-no. i actually want to make something of my life.

Alcohol–yes, on a semi-regular basis (like once a month)…
Drugs–None except caffeine and alcohol.

alcohol-perhaps a bit
drugs-psychadelics yes, hard drugs no.

alcohol-nope
drugs-does caffeine count?

Yay to alcohol, nay to drugs. I’ve always shunned drugs just because they have that added stigma attached to them.

Stigma never bothered me…

Actually I was just the other day walking down the street and I thought: HEY! I should go shoot up on heroin.

…or not. Although I like it as a response to going skydiving “I’m sure heroin is fun too”

Not that I would be opposed to skydiving. The first IB diploma class at my school went skydiving the weekend after school got out.

i don’t drink, i don’t do drugs. i do do coffee. regularly, and in large doses : )

i don’t smoke either. is that part of the pole? i think it’s relavent.

i meant poll, oops

i think for the casual high schooler drugs=smoking i.e. if youre doing drugs that you arent smoking (injecting, sniffing) then you’ve got a whole other problem … As for cigarettes, id be curious to know.

i meant cigarettes. i differentiate them from drugs, smokeable or no.

No drugs no alcohol. No smoking of any kind. I was traumatized by witnessing the effects of all these unhealthy chemicals on some of my friends. They all ended up working at Dominoes and going to the local Community College or WhoTep (UT-EP). Their goal is to eventually work at Johnny Carino’s or Olive Garden.

Well, all your friends fit an unfortunate stereotype, then. That doesn’t mean that it holds true for every drinker or pothead. I know near-entire schools of IB students who toke up, and I know some who are truly brilliant. Honestly I know more dumb drinkers. Chemicals don’t necessarily make you stupid (see: Hunter S Thompson. I don’t even see how the man is alive). What you do with your life is your choice and just because you light up every so often doesn’t mean you automatically become a slacker. It doesn’t trigger some Pizza Guy gland that turns you into a bum.

And really…where would we be without pizza guys?

can you spell defensive?

I’m not defensive. I never said that I do do any of that. It just surprises me that in a community for a college that purports a Life of the Mind and openmindedness etc. that some allegedly intelligent people still hold puritanical health-class stereotypes. I’m not of the neo-hippy persuasion that claims that drugs open you up to a higher realm of consciousness, either; I’m not claiming that they’re panaceas or even beneficial. I’m just saying that those who choose to indulge are not necessarily bums.

fakesnake, did you apply EA?
