So PSU was my D’s first choice. She applied on the first day of apps were being accepted. We then had to wait the agonizing 3 1/2 months until she found out she was accepted. Had some roommate issues before school started. A girl she had met in a group took the 1+3 program and left my D hanging. Luckily, my wife knew a girl from the town over from us who was also going. They hit it off and became roommates. She was a bit nervous before we left. But, absolutely loves it there. Met lots of people from her floor and from her classes. Now is pledging a sorority. Her favorite thing is going to the football games.
I have read about some people having trouble meeting people. My word of advice is that you have to put yourself out there and try to do all the activities your RA or the school is doing. The first couple of days of school. My D went to dinner with the floor (Her RA) put that together. She went to a tye-dye party and a trip to Target…they kept the store open after-hours and had deals for the kids. Also, she went around her floor and introduced herself. Some people she doesn’t talk to still…but, she did meet some people she still hangs with.
