they’re not. call them and ask… it’ll only p1ss u and them off

eh, i called wustl back in mid-march and they said i’ll get decisions in early april. i recieved my decision that very afternoon… so i wouldn’t necessarily believe anything the admissions office says.

my S got in EA and we thought we might get money info today, but mail just came and NOTHING!!!

I just went outside with pouring rain to get mail and again, there was a big envelope and a small envelope. None of them were from Chicago but I crapped my pants twice.

extreme…

the worst thing is that mail doesn’t come to my house, it comes to a friends place in the city…and he’s outta town, so every morning i go check there.

i am about this close to a nervous breakdown.

wait, cancel that. i just hit nervous breakdown.

j10cpc500… so where were the envelopes from?
good news?

i had about 3 breakdowns today
mental… breakdowns…

they were from my brother’s company…three business days in a row.

i think that when my sister starts applying, i’ll send her big, empty envelopes around the time she should be hearing back. ooh, won’t she be mad? :)

ooo ur evilllll!!!

i had a nice fat package waiting for me when i got home… but it was from carnegie mellon.

I’ve been receiving a thin envelope almost every day for a while. So far, in order from most recent to oldest: Oberlin, Vassar, Carleton, Macalester. Plus my Swarthmore rejection makes five.

ummm, ouch.

omg… im so sorry daniel. thats horrible :(

Just to help deflate hysteria, I got in EA, and I can definitely confirm that the admissions office fibbed a bit. They seem to like to shroud the process in mystery. I called twice the week before the decisions were sent and one person who picked up the phone said “by early next week” while the other said “by the end of this week.” I think they wanted to give themselves a safety net in case they got too behind schedule. Plus, Chicago is staunchly committed to snail mail, which further delays/makes unpredictable when you’ll hear. My decision was postmarked Dec. 14th, even though the UChicago website itself said “they were sent December 15th.” So go figure. You’ll get them really soon and I feel your pain (I had a breakdown per day…).

im having meltdowns cus of gtown. causing me such anxiety!!!
chicago is ok…

silver: Thanks, but it’s not unexpected. My head of school and I have been pushing hard for Chicago, though, so I’ll have to keep hoping for the best!

I’m frustrated that my mail doesn’t come for another nine hours…

o no, why must the admissions office do that!

playing mind games/causing breakdowns in potential students is not good. makes us…unstable. lol.

most of us are probably already pretty unstable, this admissions-officers-playing-with-us business can’t really make us that much worse…lol

The worst is the “fat envelope” that comes regularly from Chicago, you tear it open, and it is their newspaper, lol.

Sarabara,

Rather than fibbing, keep in mind that when mail is metered (which has a date) and when the tray goes out to the USPS may be different. The latter will always be later.

Anyway, I’m a bit surprised that Chicago does not have its stuff out already, as one of the few ways they can get an advantage over their Ivy rivals is to be a bit earlier with acceptances. Time is running out to do that.
