Just called..

The website now specifically says that decisions are being mailed TODAY.
So we will get them at the same time as the ivies after all.
Good luck all! I’m probably going to BU anyways and I prob wont get into Chicago.

post the link pls!

im probably going to barnard lol hehe dont like chicago
but i love finding out decisions! hehehe woottt

star sail,
Where does it say they will be mailed today? A search for “March 29” yields nothing on the U Chicago admissions site.

https://uncommonapplication.uchicago.edu/

To quote from the website:

"Information for First-year Applicants

All applications for the 2004-05 admissions cycle are now under review.

We will mail our admissions decisions on Tuesday, March 29th.

Please note that we do not provide admissions decisions online or by phone.

posted 03/28/2005"

I have no clue if I’d get accepted. I applied to Rhodes College, WUSTL, and UChicago.

I am also looking up a couple of art schools. One in Memphis and School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago.

Accepted: Rhodes College
Rejected: WUSTL
Pending: UChicago, SAIC, etc…

I can bet you anything that there are admission officers whose jobs are to search up the internet and see what students are saying.

I probably got rejected because of all the stupid things I have said.

College-ish,
thank-you for posting the link. Best wishes on all of your remaining schools! What media do you work in?

Hi ohio_mom,

I wish my mom would post on here lol ;).

Media? I like heavy industrial type stuff… it can be a pain (believe me! ha) but you’d be surprised how much beauty things like wood, rope, and plaster can convey. I guess I just enjoy sculpture.

I also like painting/drawing, but my most “serious” work as of yet has been in sculpture.

:D And thank you so much on the best wishes!

What kind of mail do they use and how long will it take the mail to get to New Jersey?

this is all too much for me. i’m making a pot of tea, any takers?

j10cpc5000,
if the letters are going 1st class, I would guess you will hear Friday or Saturday. Part of it will depend on when they were / will be mailed, and what mail delivery is like on your end.

College-ish,
one of our friends does industrial design, and another does decorative blacksmithing (signs and gates and such). Don’t know anyone that works with rope, though! I suppose its going to be hard for you to choose between the academic and artistic parts of your personality.

configure,
tea gives me migraines so I will pass (but nice thought). If the UChicago admissions gods are unkind to us also, maybe you will wind up at Brandeis with my son!

ohio_mom,

Yeah, you’ve nailed it there. I have not been able to decide and so, every new acceptance/rejection is another confuser for me.

While academics are important, I do not want to forfeit my expressive voice. I do not feel–and my mom thinks this also–that I can keep alive this talent and somehow still manage an extremely heavy academic load, too.

Once I know all the schools’ decisions, I will make mine. But I’ve mostly resigned that decision to fate.

there’s an upside to everything, eh, ohio-mom? :)

pity about the tea :D

That’s a good point I hadn’t though of, newmassdad, concerning when Chicago sent vs. when the mail service actually sent the mail. But in terms of when they send it in order to snap up candidates for Ivy schools…I personally hope that people who choose Chicago really want to go there and aren’t just swayed by not getting into Harvard beforehand. But that’s me. As for folks waiting and anxiety: instability is okay! I recommend two things: taking naps (to just sleep through the pain), and taking walks (walk it off, etc.). Both helped me. That, and haunting CC, haha. And it will all be over soon…how are you guys relaxing?

video games, basketball, and an entire quart of mint chocolate chip ice cream courtesy of a friend in Baskin Robbins.

relaxing… who said that I was relaxing??? Actually, I have come down with this awful sore throat that is not permitting me to talk. School work is keeping me somewhat busy, though.

I already mentioned a few times what I do to keep busy.
Reading: getting lost in thoughts is helpful
Watching movies: getting lost in fantasy
Working out: if body is dead tired, nothing else bothers you.

school work SHOULD be keeping me busy. chem exam in around 7 hours, and all i know about transition metals is that the letter ‘d’ is somehow vital…

so yeah, i’m relaxing :D

how many of you guys out there do the A levels?

i was accepted EA. they postmarked it on the 14th and it got to me on the 20th (new england).
