Just confirming no need for CSS

Luckily my parents are able to afford Duke so i don’t need to send CSS right ?
I do plan to apply for AB Duke scholarship . Do I still need to fill CSS ?
In general, for other private schools do i need to file CSS if i apply for Merit Scholarships ?

TIA

If you are not applying for FA, you do not need to fill out the Profile. However, you do not ‘apply’ for the AB-- they’ll offer you a finalist position if they choose to.

purpleacorn is correct - Duke does not require any separate applications, including CSS Profile, for their merit scholarships (although the Robertson is a separate program that does require an app).

Every school has slightly different policies however. It would be imprudent to make a broad statement that CSS is not needed for any of them.

alicejohnson-- I know Kelonwa’s S was nominated to apply through the admissions office and filled out the app late, but because the Robertson is not sponsored through OUSF but through the Robertson Foundation, they do require a separate app, letters of rec, and essays.

The Robertson doesn’t require a separate application to be filled out to be considered - it is optional. However, if the admissions committee identifies a candidate through the process as a possible Robertson Scholar, at that point the individual may require to fill out additional paperwork. But not everybody who received the Robertson Scholarship at Duke filled out the Robertson-specific application at the onset.

In any event, no, you don’t need to fill out the CSS - that is only for need-based financial aid, not merit aid at Duke. The AB does not have any separate application and everybody is considered automatically - it’s extremely competitive obviously and only the top few percent of applicants get chosen.

Hello, just clarifying.

Yes and no about the application. Every Robertson had to fill out the application at some point, just at different points. You may have applied directly. However, in the case that you get referred by an admissions officer and reach the semifinalist stage, then they will ask you to fill out the application then.

No, to CS.
