<p>Just curious … if some people say that their career interests are in the least competitive majors … then can they simply switch majors back to the one the really want? (They are only using their “fake” major to gain admissions advantage by being a rarity in that certain major.)</p>

<p>From what I’ve read, I’m pretty sure that saying that wouldn’t actually help, unless the rest of their application reveals strength/intense interest in that area… If you put your major as Underwater Basket Weaving (the hypothetical rare major joke) but it’s nowhere on the rest of your app, it won’t help.</p>
<p>And since you don’t declare a major til soph year, you can do whatever you want major-wise (esp since the tentative major on the app doesn’t really matter).</p>
