Just for fun -- Haiku!

<p>Son needs to choose now:
eeny meeny miney mo
among internships.</p>

<p>Stepped off the curb wrong.
Torn ligament in ankle
i am very sad.</p>

<p>Oh, mathmom we don’t
make our own maple syrup!
It just must be REAL!</p>

<p>Husband tried once, though.
Burnt maple syrup smells bad-
the pan was a mess!</p>

<p>Ouch, ouch, ouch, Karen!
I can only imagine
how painful that is.</p>

<p>I’m gone a few days,
what happens to the haiku thread?
… anyone out there?</p>

<p>Big week at our place –
Papers, rehearsals, birthdays,
and Valentine dance.</p>

<p>Came home one evening…
geek_son sat in the recliner
and fell fast asleep!</p>

<p>It’s a tough question:
Let them stay and get back kinks,
or wake them for bed?</p>

<p>When I wake him up,
stares at the clock in his room –
can’t get back to sleep.</p>

<p>This week is long too.
More school work, long rehearsals,
basketball playoffs.</p>

<p>Mine’s not in the game,
but still looking forward to
yelling on sidelines!</p>

<p>For my part, right now,
lots of late bleary-eyed nights –
server migration. :(</p>

<p>Still, thought I’d check on
what’s going on around here
in small, short phrases…</p>

<p>So, haiku parents,
please enlighten this geek mom –
whatcha been up to? :D</p>

<p>Geek_mom, glad you asked.
But you’ll be sorry you did:
Food poisoning, here.</p>

<p>So sorry, Karen,
H broke his knee, years ago,
the same way. Heal fast!</p>

<p>Procrastinating
zoning issues, paperwork
no fun stuff today!</p>

<p>Planning college trip
Bard and Vassar in one day
It’s a lot more fun</p>

<p>Harriet, oh dear!
Hope everyone’s better now.
Drink lots of water!</p>

<p>Karen Colleges,
Add my own late well wishes
for ankle healing.</p>

<p>mathmom, I hear you.
This job stuff I must finish
is slow, sluggish, dull.</p>

<p>Plenty much more fun
is hanging out at high school
and shooting the kids.</p>

<p>(? Yes, with a camera –
unofficial photographer
for most school events. :D)</p>

<p>Kid’s home - winterbreak
Shooting only if he won’t
Practice SAT. ;)</p>

<p>Let me guess, mathmom!
A different kind of shooting’s
what you had in mind. </p>

<p>geek_son’s so happy
no more standardized testing –
he does hate it so.</p>

<p>Didn’t have the heart
to say anything to him
about GRE. :(</p>

<p>That’s a long time off,
so I hope he’ll get over
testing phobias!</p>

<p>Oh, PS, mathmom,
good luck to your bright kiddo
on those SATs!</p>

<p>thanks for the good wishes
daughter travels for tourney
sad. 'cuz I can’t go.</p>

<p>good news, not much pain
but so awkward, still swollen
and I hate crutches!</p>

<p>I forget the rules
commas okay in haiku?
sorry if i’m wrong</p>

<p>Oh Karen, rules schmoolz!
Use commas if you’ve got 'em,
it’s a laid-back thread.</p>

<p>Glad to hear no pain!
Hope the swelling goes down soon,
followed by dancing.</p>

<p>Daughter’s tournament?
What is she competing in?
Does she travel far?</p>

<p>Best wishes to her.
And for her hop-along mom,
hope she brings trophies!</p>

<p>You say “I’m grown up.”
But tantrums and attitude
say “I’m a toddler.”</p>

<p>basketball, by plane
too far for ankle to fly
can’t wait to hear scores</p>

<p>Good luck, Karen’s D!
You have the whole haiku thread
cheering for you now.</p>

<p>chintzy, lately we
can’t tell who’s more grown-up: first
grader, or senior?</p>

<p>Ouch, I sympathize!
Once flew with a broken toe.
Connecting flights sucked.</p>

<p>Go, KarenC’s D!
Make lay-ups for the gimper
and sink all free throws!</p>

<p>Mom will be so proud!
Dance of joy might have to wait,
but happiness won’t!</p>

<p>Recaps budgets files
Diva colleagues seek counsel
Will drink wine tonight</p>

<p>Saw two colleges this week
one urban, one in the woods
D likes both of them.</p>

<p>I am confused
She likes the rural college
But does not want shirt?</p>

<p>We bought urban shirt
Does she like that school better?
“No, I like them both.”</p>

<p>So much for the t-shirt test…</p>

<p>That puzzled us too.
“I didn’t want to jinx it!”
S1 said later.</p>

<p>How is your tummy
I want to ask Harriet
Hope you are better.</p>
