ellemenope,
I still have a six-year-old:
Ilingualbay!

(somehow that came out as five syllables, in Pig Latin)

Mathmom is your son
The renaissance man he seems?
Good at Jeopardy?

Harriet methinks
breaking up sobsob with whah
improves the rhythm

L M N O P
I’ve misread your username
thought it “Ellen Mope”

Irony exists
“Reading Comprehension” is
A class which I teach ;)

Re Jeopardy and S2:

Useful knowledge? Ha!
He’s an expert on pie,
Star Wars, and Origami

Well that was unfair
He’s a Bright Well Rounded Kid
Hates Latin, English

Guess it’s a good thing
that he forgot his sneakers –
it’s really cold out.

Big storm blowing in,
weight lifting class outside – brrr!
Took a sweatshirt too.

mathmom, that sounds like
a perfect combination
of interesting skills!

He could make a pie
in the shape of an X-Wing
with folded napkins…

Send it to adcoms –
if they’re not duly impressed,
something’s wrong with them!

LOL geek_mom
fold millennium falcon
to decorate crust

Yes! I see it now!
With maraschino cherries
carved like the Death Star!

I see a pie crust:
Golden Tatooine sands, with
origami droids.

Teacher called today
“Kid so smart and so engaged
Why late assignments?”

I don’t really know.
How much should I be fixing?
How much can she fix?

Some children take time
I guess, just to find their way
And get organized.

Do you remember
Reading books like “Goodnight Moon”?
They grow up too soon.

Do you remember
Telling them to pick up socks?
When will they grow up?

Saying “pick up socks?”
Oh yeah, sure I remember.
Happened last Friday.

(just kidding, geek_son –
I know you did your laundry –
credit where it’s due. ;))

Trail of socks, always.
In your case, Mrs. Weasley,
can’t Ron use his wand? :D

HMW:

Ron’s wand was broken
Once–dang he missed getting the
Hang of cleaning socks!

Some kids! They can help
Defeat evil Voldemort
But can’t pick up socks.

Remember to check
Again I say your midyear report
The schools must have it

No acknowledgement
He no doubt thinks it’s all done
Senior year’s happening

Thank goodness his grades
Have left no room for complaint
So inform the schools!

Errands to care for
exercises ignored for this
Haiku with all you

Heard you, oregon.
Haiku’d my brains out last night…
kitchen’s still a mess!

To all of you, thanks
for this Haiku interlude!
I enjoy reading!

Cold, rainy Monday.
I spent it in the kitchen –
my day off from work.

Cleaning and cooking,
meatloaf, scalloped potatoes,
just right for today.

Not shy at the stove,
I made up the recipes
as I went along.

It smells delicious!
(If I may say so myself :))
Tasty masterpiece.

Add some vegetables,
broccoli, roast asparagus,
piece de resistance.

When he’s wolfed it down,
geek_son will tell me, “Thanks, Mom –
Dinner didn’t suck!”

(with apologies to the authors of Zits comics. ;))
