Just Out of Curiosity

Hi, I’m currently a freshman in high school.
I come from the land of Psy (for people who may not know, South Corea.)
And as you can see from my generally grammatically correct sentences so far, I’m fluent in English, so I have chose to take the road not taken, which is, studying abroad.
I know I’m just a freshman in high school (I haven’t even taken my midterms yet, but it’s in May) I just want to know what colleges I can get into. It doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of knowledge. (Or does it?) Here are my general scores.

Grades:
Corean: B
Math: F
History/Social Studies: C
Science: F
English: A
Home Economics: D
(Please note that,

  1. There is no failing grade in South Corea {which I am thankful for. If there was a failing grade, I would be still studying 7th grade math} and the grading system is similar to the US one. We are graded by A,B,C,D,F. But the only difference is that the A,B,C,D,E is stated in Corean words.
  2. I haven’t taken my first midterm since I’ve entered high school so I tried to just grade myself based on what I’ve done in middle school. I swear I didn’t bluff on certain scores.
  3. Currently, I’ve graded myself on the basic subjects {the subjects that I’ve learned since 9th grade [For example, Corean, Math, Science, English, Social Studies/History, and Home Economics]} but there are lots of other subjects that the school has forced me to take from time to time. I’ll list those subjects too.)

SAT scores:
R&W: 1000+/1200
(I’m currently attending a SAT institute(?), I didn’t mention my math scores, because the institute only teaching R&W.)
Math: … Needs alot of work.
(I’ve been trying to work on math on my spare time, but… agh, I should have paid closer attention during math class.)

AP:
(I really don’t know if this is relevant, but…)
AP Psychology, AP French (I’m {My mom is making me} planning on to take them during winter vacation)

Extra curricular activities:
In middle school, I’ve briefly been a part of the following clubs(?)
(Okay, they are strictly not clubs. The school forces you to enroll in a club, and every month or so, there is a “Creative Activity” class where we have to participate in these clubs.)

  1. Cub Scouts (its like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts merged together. I only participated in this club when I was in 7th grade {FYI, I’ve been a Girl/Cub Scout since I was in 3rd grade(?)})
  2. Band
(If you’re thinking of a marching band, no. I was the drummer of the school rock band when I was in 8th grade.)
  3. English Newspaper Club
    (10th grade)
And now, in high school, I am (once again) the drummer of the school’s rock band.

Volunteer Work
(School in Corea make the student do volunteer work for a certain amount of hours, or you can’t graduate/move up to the next grade.)
So far, I’ve done many kinds of volunteer work. For instance, I’ve been a participant of the ACE camp (which is, long story short, translating for future ROTC cadets.) I’ve also volunteered senior citizen’s center(?), and… I can’t think of any more instances. I’m pretty sure I have done more, but my memory fails to remember those times.

FYI, I’m thinking about majoring in Psychology, Filming, Drama.
Well, recently, I have been thinking about majoring in only filming and drama, since I’ll take the AP test for psychology.

I’m just a freshman, and I’m just looking for colleges which might accept me. Don’t hesitate to answer my question, I’m just looking for a general pool (?) of colleges that I might have a shot of getting into.

Thank you for reading my very long (and discursive) questions. Remember, the more the better!

I scored 110 on the TOEFL
And I took Chinese Characters class (7th,9th grade), music, pe, and art since 7th grade. also i learned chinese (8th grade)…
i think i scored an A on Chinese Characters.
and i generally scored well in pe,music, and art
also i scored either an A or B. my memory fails me.
alao, please note that at my middle school, everybody was graded on a curve.

I have no idea what your situation will result in, but I can give you a slight bit of education in English that will help you.

You spell Korean as Corean. You need to swap the the C with a K.

Anyway, anything of D or lower will cut your acceptance rates by a vast majority. Most colleges don’t even look fondly on C’s if they’re in the top listings. You should focus more on your Mathematics and Sciences.

I switched it for a reason. Originally, during Korea was introduced to the Arabian traders during the Koryeo Dynasty. They spelled it as Corea. Since the, we’ve been spelling it that way until the Japanese ruled us. You know in the Olympics, all the countries enter in alphabetical order, right? The Japanese didn’t like the fact that we were entering before them, so they changed the C to a K, so we’ll enter right after them.

I’ve grew fond over the C spelling after I heard this story from my father

Sent from my SHV-E210S using CC

Um the correct spelling is K dude hate to burst your bubble, hate to burst your bubble again but your grades are not really good.
