@unipaths - “Likely?”

I mean I’ve heard the term before, but never really got what it means …

Academic “likely” letters are not sent to ED applicants. The purpose of a “likely” letter is to encourage and enhance an exceptional applicant’s interest in a school before formal admissions decisions are announced, by letting him or her know that he/she is likely to be accepted. ED applicants are, of course, already committed to the ED school if they are accepted through ED, and “likely” letters would be superfluous.
