I’ve been at ISU for a little over a month now and it’s going pretty well. Always lots and lots to do but I’m very much enjoying the work and the school. It’s still kind of a rough transition completely starting over at a new school, but everyone is very nice and we’re connecting well!

The class is much different than undergrad, in a good way. Much more discussion-based and actually applicable to what we’re all doing in our assistantships.

Going to Indianapolis this weekend to celebrate my birthday (which isn’t until Monday but I have class and work) with my mom’s best friend (and my honorary aunt). It should be fun I haven’t really left campus since I got here so it will be nice to get away and take a break.

They have some actual real thunderstorms in the midwest (and NE and SE) compared to California. They’re pretty cool (as long as you don’t need to drive in them).

GladGradDad-I’m in Indianapolis at the home of my mom’s best friend (surrogate aunt). She was shooting a wedding tonight (she’s a professional photographer) and she can’t come back because it’s so stormy! So for now it’s just me and the cat.

I’m excited to see a real snowstorm! Like you said, as long as I don’t have to drive in it. ;)

fendergirl–this one is a little easier than the first midwest storm I experienced not too long after I moved in! I was totally freaked out by that one.

Happy Birthday! I grew up in the Midwest and went to grad school in Illinois! I LOVED those storms. You could see them coming for miles. You’ll get used to them.

I have a pretty nice coat, and several scarves. I will need a hat and boots before too long.

My favorite perk of working in Residential Life–I live where I work! My office is about a 10 foot walk out my door. No nasty commute in bad weather! I’ll just have to worry about walking to class.

Thank you thumper! It was definitely an experience…I was driving home from Target when the lightning started. Lit up the whole inside of my car.
