Argh although it’s my birthday and although I got an acceptance letter from an Israeli university that I got in to their Philosophy department (second choice, my first is Architecture), I’m having crappy thought after reading about everyone’s schools and courseload and school-systems and I know if I won’t get in I can thank the crappy Israeli education system for that.
the same system that forced me to study something that I didn’t really care about only because I cared even less about the other things my school had to offer me .
the same system that didn’t let me finish with my English studies in the 11th grade because “it was out of the ordinary” and by that dooming me to sit and get bored for 7 weekly hours in the 12th grade instead of taking Advanced Lit.
the same system that offered me only ordinary boring stuff and never challanged me.
the same system that didn’t allow me to take an extra language class because I already took computers and beside s the language selection was shameful - Arabic, French (only if you took those 2 in junior high or else forget it), Spanish (REALLY low level class… I mean I can understand most of the thing I read in Spanish from what I learned on my own, yes I understood most of the spanish posts on the countdown thread) and Russian (for Russian speakers - how lame?).
I just know that if I had a more challanging study environment I would have done so much better than I did (and I didn’t do so bad, top 5% in Israel, so that’s to show you what I could have accomplished)
but hey, just ranting - yeah?

oh and how could I forget the nonexistent EC programs in here… Leadership? what the hell is that?? Varsity? what? debate? who would do that? singing? ok… let’s have a minute choir…math clubs… chess clubs… any kind of clubs… why? lets let all the teens get drunk and stab each other, that doesn’t work, well let them scr*w each other too maybe that will keep them busy…
