Just saw the GREATEST commercial about a GC

Wow, what a great commercial: It opens with a high school girl talking to her guidance counsellor, who says: “You should think about being a file clerk. You want a good job, and you might even meet a lawyer.” This then fades to a person (the same girl, a little older) putting a name plate on her desk which says “Attorney at Law.” Then it fades to her - even older sitting as a judge. Then finally, it fades to her (presumably retired from the court) sitting at the original GC desk, advising a new girl that she might want to think about becoming a lawyer. The message was something like retiring to do what you always wanted to do.

What was it a commercial for?

I’m guessing Financial Planning services

I think it was for Lincoln Financial.

I like the one with Samuel L. Jackson. It has vignettes about people who made a difference in people’s lives, flashing on the other’s experiences with coach so and so, and Mr. So and So, teacher. Then he looks right at the camera and says, “Ms. Jones, Guidance Counselor” and grins. When I was stressed to the max last year, that commercial was instrumental in making me keep my sometimes thankless job as a guidance counselor.

I don’t tell people what to do, I help them dig out of themselves what they would love.

Love you guys, just telling it from the other side of the desk.

Most of us lawyers don’t have room on our desks for a name plate.

dadofsam - believe it or not, I had that same thought during the commercial itself!
