Just something I read about Internet usage...

<li>Facilities supports open access to electronic communication and information and members of Facilities may freely communicate and access information on electronic networks, provided that the following guidelines are observed:</li>

Material accessible to the Facilities community through networks and materials disseminated from the University should not be restricted on the basis of content, nor because of the origin, background, or views of those contributing to its creation. However, University IT resources may not be utilized:</p>

<p>1) For personal financial or commercial purposes.
2) To access or view pornographic or obscene materials.
3) To impersonate another person or misrepresent authorization to act on behalf of others.
4) To state or imply, without authorization, that a user speaks or acts on behalf of the University.</p>

<p>The list goes on for about 2 pages. Am I missunderstanding something or are they telling us that were not allowed to use the Online-Banking accounts they helped us set up on our FSUID’s during orientation? I want to think their saying on public computers but…i dunno</p>

<p>You can’t use their network to make money, to try to make money. You can use it all you want to do online banking.</p>

<p>I thought it meant the library b/c personal financial purposes doesnt just mean making money but also accessing bank accounts online.
If thats the case then just the Lib would make sense since you and the school dont want other people accessing your accounts.
But since it didnt specify which they meant it seems as if were not allowed to do it on either. Which brings me back to my point. Wheres the logic in helping make us account if we cant use em.</p>

8) To intentionally damage or disable computer systems, networks, or software.</p>

<p>I dont think they would care if we damage or disable our own computers or software… so yeah this isnt very clear.</p>

<p>This policies page is directed for EMPLOYEES of FSU.</p>

<p>Therefore, the <em>facilities that provide a variety of IT resources including computers, networks, software, handheld wireless devices, etc for use by THE FACILITIES STAFF</em></p>

<p>This entire thing has nothing to do with students.</p>

<p>So freshman boys, download as many naughty movies as you want.</p>
