I just took a 200mg advil because I have a major headache but today is my day to workout (workout 3 days a week, MWF). Is it fine to workout now? I’ve read articles where it’s not good to workout after taking advil but it’s not like I take it everyday; I only took it now because I have a major headache.

Thoughts/suggestions?

What’s the purpose of your workout? Is it strength building or cardio?

The major issue with an NSAID before you work out is that it can mask pain, potentially leading to injury. Personally, this risk would not stop me from working out if I had taken it for a headache.
If you’re trying to build muscle, you kind of need the inflammation for that to occur, so taking an NSAID is a tad bit counter productive.

As for suggestions- next time this happens, I’d try skipping the advil altogether- at least for me, working out makes me feel better, and if I have a headache it goes away.

Johnson181 - it’s strength building. Todays the day to lift weights. Should I postpone my workout to tomorrow then? I am really serious about building muscle so I really need inflamation to work.

Seeing as how its already been several hours since you took it, it really shouldn’t be an issue at all (also considering it was only 200mg)
