<p>I just received a long email from my sophomore son after his first college girlfriend broke up with him. He was trying to figure the whole thing out - love, intimacy, and friendship. I was so tickled with the last sentence that I had to share it with someone.</p>

<p>“This has been the best year of my life, far and away. I’m growing up.<br>
I’ve learned the value of humility, love and friendship.”</p>

<p>As he left for college a couple years ago, this is what I most hoped he would experience. I’m very thankful.</p>

<p>Definitely a keeper… safety deposit box keeper. I have a letter I wrote to my dad the year I graduated. When he died nearly 20 years ago now, it was such a shocker to me that he kept it. But it really meant a lot because I knew it was THE letter that said, I was going to be OK in life. Sometimes I pull it out and look at myself from way back then. I am certainly not the same person, but … I am still OK in life. :)</p>

<p>This is what I refer to as one of Life’s Million Dollar Moments. You know, it did not cost you a cent to experience it, but you would not trade it for $1million.</p>
