<p>I was just wondering randomly what the leading countries are in medical research/high-technology (and yes, I’ve tried using google to no avail). I’ve heard that France is a leader in medical stuff and Japan obviously for technology, but what about others?</p>
<p>There’s no objective way to answer that question. One gauge at leaders in technology is how much each nation spends on R&D (both government and private).</p>

<p>US, Japan, and China rank at the top on an absolute scale. Relative to GDP, Finland and Sweden are highest amongst OECD nations.</p>
