<p>What exactly would be the difference between earning a Ph.D. in a more general field of study vs. one of it’s specialized fields, ex Biology vs. Ecology. For a Ph.D. in Biology I think you’d typically have to chose a specialization/faculty with specialized research, and if you chose to specialize in ecological research, would there be a different effect career-wise (ie more opportunities) than getting just getting a Ph.D. in ecology? Sorry if this came out a bit confusing! Thanks.</p>
