Kaplan/Newsweek- Rhodes #1 in "Service"

My very proud D sent me this link a few days ago. I have posted many times that Rhodes’ campus religion was “service”. It appears somebody agrees. I know one alum that does. [Rhodes Tops Newsweek′s List of “Most Service-Minded Schools”](http://www.rhodes.edu/19022.asp)

After re-reading my hastily written OP…what I meant to say was “My very-proud-of-her-school D”, not that she was “very proud” of some article about it. Coffee. I need more coffee.

Hey Cur, why couldn’t your daughter be proud? I think she should be proud of her school, but also proud of herself! Oh well, you know what I mean!

On the one hand, I think it is wonderful to read more about an amazing school such as Rhodes. Inasmuch as you’ve done a superlative job in lifting the veil about the little-known school, it deserves to be listed among the great schools in our country.

On the other hand, this is not exactly a Kaplan/Newsweek ranking. Although, as anyone who follows the follies of Mister Jay knows, the combination of terms such as Newsweek and ranking is hardly a sign of quality and intellectual integrity, the “service” ranking listed in your post is simply amongst the worst, as it points to nothing else than the Washington Monthly’s.

X

Very nice! I have a lot of TN friends who are Rhodes grads or have kids at Rhodes and it is no secret around here how great a place it is.
