Kaplan SAT Test Prep?

Hello CC Community!

I was able to get a free in-class Kaplan Course (6 sessions, a few practice tests) to prepare me on the SAT but Ive seen mixed reviews from it. I was wondering how serious I should take the class in terms of its ability to raise my sat score to at least around mid 1400.
I took it last June without studying and got 1260. 580R 680M. I have been taking practice tests where I have been scoring in the 1300s, 700-740M , minimal improvements in the English portions. I currently have the Kaplan 2018 8 practice test book and a Princetion Review book from 2017 (Havent really touched that one too much). Will be taking the test in October. Thanks for your imput!

Also, is an SAT Essay score of 7/6/7 decent?

As one who has taken a Kaplan prep course, I found it to be a joke. Their prep is best suited to people who aren’t very … how should I say this… smart? The class teaches you a bunch of tricks, best suited to those whose primary method of test taking is memorization.

I solely used the Kaplan prep book to study for the sat and my score went up by 180 points (1310 to 1490) so I feel like since you have one you should just study with that. But when I took the practice sat in the prep book it predicted I would score a 1380 so keep in mind that the book isn’t perfect.
