I see that here on CC there is a Dugger thread with over 2000 replies and over 130,000 views. Yet there is no Khardasian thread that I am aware of. Why?
To me, they are about the same. Have noteriaty for doing nothing special. The Duggers have babies and the Kardasians have money. ( Apparently the Duggers do now as well) Can’t understand the interest in either and am completely sick of seeing stories about them in every magazine and on tv.
What is the interest?
@morrismm, I totally agree, and I completely fail to understand why anyone is interested in either set of exhibitionists.
I don’t get the appeal. Never been one to be in awe of famous people- probably because I’ve been around a lot of famous people since I was young. Plus, I just have never been able to get into the obsession people have with celebrities’ lives.
I also get fiercely protective of celebrity children because I know how easily that could’ve been my cousins. My uncle is now semi-famous but he doesn’t live anywhere near his kids so they’re pretty safe. But when he was younger, he dated a megastar whose kids I see plastered on magazines. It makes me sick that celebrities and their kids can be stalked like that.
However, I do pop into the Dugger thread every once in a while because I firmly believe those people are child abusers and hope to see something about CPS getting involved. Since I refuse to drive click traffic to gossipy sites, I rely on CCers to do it for me 
Well, it’s kind of ironic that you don’t see the interest in the Kardashian’s while expressing confusion over CC not discussing them…
Honestly, I prefer the Kardashians to the Duggars. Yes, they are ridiculous exhibitionists who have used Kim’s sex tape to launch themselves into celebrity. But with them, what you see is what you get. They make some really dumb decisions but they also don’t blame anyone else for those dumb decisions. They don’t hide behind religion and cast judgements on other people’s sins while hiding their own. Their flaws (of which there are many) are fully on display and they acknowledge it themselves.
Mom2twogirls-- do not see the irony. As stated, both families “news” are blasted on magazine and tabloid covers. Noticed that only a Dugger thread was on CC. Wondering why CC is only interested in one vs. the other. Just curious. But personally not interested in either.
Sorry, can not relate to your second paragraph at all. But it sounds like you should start a Kardasian thread. The Dugger one has been popular so maybe the Kardasian one will be too.
There’s some adult male poster - Gonoles85 - who is convinced that Kim Kardashian is the most gorgeous thing ever and if we don’t agree, we females must simply be insanely jealous. “It’s their world and we just live in it.” Uh no. Like consolation, these famous families don’t affect my life in any way.
There was a thread called let’s talk about the Kardashians. But can’t link on iPhone.
I thought that was why this forum is here, so we can discuss stuff we want to discuss?
I have posted on the Duggar forum; I was very disillusioned by a lot of the things that came out about them after having watched their show for years. It would be really hard for me to be disillusioned by anything the Kardashians were to do.
Duggars/Kardashians – it’s like the crazy neighbors you can’t stop gossiping about. You disdain them. You worry about your kids being exposed to their shenanigans. And yet… you can’t stop talking about them. That’s the most evil thing of all.
I dispise both families equally. But I’ll indulge in bashing them whenever I can. :))
This sounds petty but the way the Kardashian/Jenner women talk annoys me. Usually I save my mind-numbing TV for other shows.

Here is the thread I referenced earlier, complete with fawning over the Kardashians as “American royalty” and “the next Elizabeth Taylor,” LOL. IMO, there really isn’t much to say beyond what’s in that thread. It was a spin-off of discussions about the Bruce / Caitlyn Jenner transition.
I shun these shows. I do not admire anyone in them. One thing though that I think can be said about these tv shows is how tv has taken us from the fictitious Donna Reed family, the Ozzie and Harriet family, and Father Knows Best to the Archie Bunker family and now to these real 21st century families. Hopefully few families are like the Duggers or Kardashians, but that’s just my opinion.
I also like other mindless tv not these shows.
If I want to shut my brain off I’ll just watch old tom and jerry cartoons… those are actually enjoyable!
I personally know nothing about the Duggars…I see their names in print, know it’s a family with a lot of children and don’t care to know more. I’ve tried watching the Kardashians when flipping through channels while on the treadmill, but I hate it. It sickens me that they have all this money for doing nothing. I have to say I afmire Kris though…look what she created. Have to hand it to her for that.
I have a college friend in the entertainment business out on LA. She says no I’ve likes Kim and Kanye…they are just rude and really snobbish in general.
The difference between the Kardashians and the Duggars is that both are media wh*es, it is just that the Kardashians don’t even try to pretend to be something different, whereas the Duggars tried to portray themselves as these paradigms of morality and cleanliness in a sea of sleaze, whereas the Kardashians seem to revel in it *shrug. I don’t like either program, and I don’t think being a poster child for the La La land lifestyle is something to watch over, but I prefer someone honest about what they are rather than a bunch of grubby holier than thou sleazeballs.
