Doing the Happy Dance at my house…I think in 2 weeks, we’ll hear that he’s scuttled off to some other campaign – probably Thompson. Fred’s tight with the Bushes. This may (putting on my tinfoil) be why Thompson’s been holding off on his official declaration. And, of course, just because Rove’s left the building, this doesn’t mean he still won’t be ‘advising’ the present occupant even while helping out the next contender.

Hard for me to believe he won’t work behind the scenes SOMEWHERE within the Republican Party. BTW, he is another example of somebody who has been successful in his chosen profession withOUT a college degree. And he’s not a native Texan, which surprised me this AM when I heard the news of his resignation. Had always assumed he was another outspoken gun-totin’, hat-wearin’ native Texas. Now you know more about Rove than you’d every hoped to know! Just glad he’s leaving!

Whom ever the republican candidate is will have to put some distance between themselves and the"great national embarrassment" otherwise known as G.W. Bush. Having Rove on your team will be a death sentence. I think he will work his magic in the background, probably using some mixture of eye-of-toad and hair-of-rat!!!

Just read an online bio. Actually very interesting. His biological father abandoned his mother; he didn’t find out his biological father was not the man who raised him until he was in his teens; his adoptive father left his mother after announcing he was gay; his mother committed suicide. That was all fairly surprising to me. What was more in line with expectations is that he worked with Donald Segretti, and that he once stole letterhead from a Democratic candidate’s office, and released faked letters to try to destroy his candidacy. That is all very very unsurprising.

Rove will never reach the level of control he has achieved with W. He and W are long time, close friends. He won’t have that with any other candidate and so will only be in the background. Most likely he will write his book, sit on several corporate boards and become a very wealthy man. I just hope our anemic Congress will force him to testify under oath. At least then, when he lies, he will have perjured himself on record.

Even if they were the best intentioned guys in the world – which is a stretch right there – their core philosophy is not a good one for their jobs. “Government doesn’t work” is not a great philosophy for people in government.
