Keeping Elders Safe (Driving, Finances, Fall Prevention, Etc)

It’s very possible that is true. My MIL’s eye doc and PCP just kicked the can down the road at every visit saying “we can better discuss this at your next visit”. So…the car still sits in her garage…and no one has driven it in over 8 years. And now, she doesn’t even remember she has a car.

Yes, we kept “Dad’s” car at CCRC, even though NO ONE drove it, just because it made him feel more content (or less argumentative). It wasn’t driven for many years and the market value of that old Mercedes went steadily downward. It was eventually sold for a fraction of what it could have fetched if it had been sold when he 1st stopped driving it.

It’s against the law in a few states like Georgia and Alabama, the slow poke law, is illegal to drive in the left lane of 2 lane road (not just limited access but a regular city boulevard with 2 or more lanes) unless you are passing a vehicle in the right lane or turning left immediately up ahead. This law should be for restricted access roads only as a line of cars passing slow cars in the right prohibit you from getting in the left lane to turn. Anyway, yes they issue tickets for this.
