<p>our school does class ranks weird so anyone with a 4.0 or above is #1, but i guess that’s okay because #1 will show up on my transcript. unweighted i think i’d have about a 3.8</p>

<p>i would say that you have a pretty good shot assuming that your ECs, recs, etc are decent. as a female you might have an easier time getting into the engineering school. good luck!</p>
<p>My son is a freshman biomed eng major and half of his biomed class of 2011 are female.
PS In regards to the essay, let them know who you are as a person. Admissions counselors have to sell you to the Admiss. committee, give them something to sell that would make you fit into the puzzle that makes up the class of 2012.</p>
