Keepsake books

I’m looking for suggestions for beautiful books for children, teens, and adults. I have a couple of suggestions for children. This is a wonderful hardcover collection of the 7 Narnia books, with beautiful illustrations:

[Amazon.com: The Complete Chronicles of Narnia: C. S. Lewis, Pauline Baynes: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Chronicles-Narnia-C-Lewis/dp/0060281375/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229008370&sr=8-2)

Peter Sis’ books are fascinating and beautiful, e.g.:

[Amazon.com: Tibet Through the Red Box: Through The Red Box (Caldecott Honor Book): Peter Sis: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Tibet-Through-Red-Box-Caldecott/dp/0374375526/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229008465&sr=1-7)

Scribner has some completely beautiful NC Wyeth-illustrated editions of classics, including Kidnapped, Treasure Island, and The Yearling.

This is my favorite book of all time. Unfortunately, the hardcover edition seems to be out of print:

[Amazon.com: Each Peach Pear Plum: Allan Ahlberg, Janet Ahlberg: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Each-Peach-Pear-Allan-Ahlberg/dp/0670058971/ref=reader_req_dp)

Thank you for the suggestions, Harriet. I am going to check those out for my 10-year-old.

Just one bit of cold water on this question; a person who “loves books” will not necessarily love beautiful keepsake editions, especially if they are big hardbacks of a book he or she has already read. I was a teen who “loved books” and relatives often gave me things like big hardback collections of Best Loved Poems. I still have them, but only because I feel guilty giving away a book with a gift inscription.
I was happy to get the Complete Sherlock Holmes, though.
