Hi, I am currently a freshman at Indiana University, and I am a Pre-Business Student.
I’ve gotten 2 Bs, and the rest of my grades are B+s and an A-. I am applying for Kelley next year through the comprehensive comitee review procress since I did not get all B+ and above. Does anyone know anyone else who’s gotten in through this process, and give some insight into what my chances are?
I don’t think past experiences will give any insight into this year. It really depends how many DA transfer out and people who have met the B+ or above criteria this year. These two factors will determine the number of slots available for a full class this year. I wish you luck.
I don’t know the details of Kelley’s process but it may matter which subjects your B’s were in (ex. economics/calculus vs English literature). Hope things work out.
Students whose records indicate any of the following will have their applications comprehensively reviewed by the Kelley Admissions Committee. The admissions committee reviews grades in all IU Bloomington courses, not just business courses. A student with any of the following risk factors is in jeopardy of their standard admission application being denied.
Any grade below a B+ (B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D-, or F) in an IU Bloomington course.
Withdrawals (W’s), X’s ( X grade replacement policy), or unresolved incompletes (I’s)
Students whose applications will undergo a comprehensive review should meet with their AMES academic advisor to ensure they are creating a plan and enrolling in courses for their alternative major in case they are not admitted to Kelley.
Students whose records indicate two unsuccessful attempts to complete a single I-Core prerequisite, including grades below a C, withdrawals (W’s), incompletes (I’s), and X grades, will have their applications automatically denied.
As I’ve said in many many posts, I place a huge value on direct admit BUT that ship has sailed for the OP by going the pre-business route. We can only advise based on the OP’s current situation.
When I was an incoming freshman, 50% of the pre-business kids who got accepted into Kelley went through the comprehensive review (according to the webinars hosted by the admissions team at the time).
The last year where the requirement was a ‘B’, lots and lots of kids made the automatic grade cut, and the general consensus on campus was that you had to be exceptional (eg. taking 21 credits, doing a dual degree, was President of a club freshman year etc.) to make the comprehensive review.
Long and short: We will not know how many kids make the automatic ‘all grades B+ and above’ criteria, so we will have to wait and see
