Kennedy School admission

Is it possible to say which is easiest to get accepted to at the Harvard KSG:

 • Undergradute studies
 • Graduate
 • Ph.d

Or in other words…if you meet one student of each, which one impresses you the most and which one the least?

Byt the way: Do you know of other forums like CC which discusses graduate and ph.d. admissions?

First, there is no such thing as a specialized undergraduate admissions program at Harvard. There is only one undergraduate program, which is through the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard College. Obviously, as you’ve seen on this board, it is extremely competitive.

That said, I do not know about the gov’t school at Harvard. I have heard it is quite good, however.

Ok, I see.

But, obviously I know that both the undergradute program at the college and the gradutate programs are competitive (maybe using the word ‘easy’ wansn’t to the point).

Though, I can understand that only about half as many undergraduates are being accepted as graduates are. Can one then they that it is twice as difficult to get into undergraduate studies? What are the statistics?

"What is the ratio of applicants to admitted students?

The Kennedy School generally admits one out of every four applicants to the MPP program, and one out of every three to the MPA2 program. One out of two applicants are admitted to the Mid-Career MPA program."

(From FAQ’s on the Kennedy School website)

The PhD programs are extremely difficult to get into. Depending on which one you apply to, some have an acceptance rate similar to that of Harvard College, while some have an even lower acceptance rate.

Also, the K school is about 50% international. This is because many politicians in other schools come there.
