I would appreciate if someone familiar with the double rooms at McBride could share their knowledge of the storage space and closet space.
It is hard to find any info or pictures of such rooms and that info would be super helpful.
Here are few questions that I have and would appreciate specific answers:
- Does every person have one dedicated closet space or is it a shared closet?
- If it is individual closet - how big more less is it?
- If it is shared closet - how much of a rod space per capita
- Is there any drawer space?
- If there are drawers, where are they located? How many of them are there?
- Is there a space under the bed to put some stuff?
- Is t he existing storage space and closet space enough or is it wise and doable to bring some plastic extra drawers or they are not needed or no room for them under the bed or otherwise?
- how big is the desktop?
- Does the desk have any drawers?
- Are there any shelves for books? If so what kind and how many?
- Is there any other storage space that I did not ask about but it does exist? Perhaps something over the closet and such…
- Where do kids keep their snacks and kitchen stuff like dishes, silverware etc?
Also precious info - is there a need/ room for any foldable chair?
It seems like there are no other sitting situations aside from the desk chair and bed that seem very limiting. Are there any free standing armchairs or if not, can one be brought that is foldable and takes tinny space. Is this solution or a problem? My kid does like to sit in a comfy chair as opposed to the bed or office chair to study.
Bonus questions that I would love to hear comments on:
- thinking about getting a little three hangers self stick to hang keys etc. Is it good idea or not . Those are the 3M type that are removable without damaging walls.
- what about a white board. If yes, what size and how to mount to the wall?
- what type of calendar would work better, a desk type… the large sheets type or the wall calendar? I know this is personal but what is your personal opinion.
Also what is an ideal Dirty Clothes arrangement:
- where and how to collect and keep dirty stuff between washes?
- what type of hampers look best and where to keep them? Plastic? Fabric? foldable or standing? Covered not covered?
- Will the go under the bed or next to the bed? or maybe fabric dirty clothes bag? If so where to keep it?
Is there a need to bring a small rug to the dorm that has already wall to wall carpet? Would it be wise to have something next to the bed? Like a little two by three runner or something like that?
