I bought a nespresso essenza on sale for $99 for my D to take back to college. It includes a separate milk heater/froth maker. We tried it tonight and the espresso/coffee came out very hot, but I can’t get the milk to heat up as much as I like. I heated the milk and it automatically turned off. I then tried to heat it again to make it warmer and it wouldn’t turn on. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I use a french press, but my D likes lattes and spends too much at Starbucks!

I have a Saeco super automatic espresso machine at home and a Nespresso machine and frother at work (and another machine in our camping trailer…).

For the Nespresso frother, make sure the whip thingy is seated properly in the container. The milk doesn’t get as hot as my home machine, but it works in a pinch. If it continues to not work, take it back. I had issues to begin with, but now 99 time out of a hundred it works fine. It will not froth soy milk.

A double Nespresso shot and some hot water with a tablespoon of half and half is our go-to at work.

There’s no chance Nespresso will go out of business. It is incredibly popular in Europe.

zeebamom- How do you make a double Nespresso shot? Do you use two of the small containers? The machine I bought requires us to control the amount of water, and doesn’t turn off automatically. Would I use one container for one shot and then put another container in for the second shot? Thanks!

I have a nespresso and often do two shots with one capsule. I’ll do a large latte and then a small espresso. My mugs are big or their cup proportions are small.

I usually use 2 “regular” capsules. I dispense into a little pitcher (like a cream pitcher at the diner, bought at Costco business), pour into the cup & then add an equal amount of hot water from the machine to make an Americano. Each shot is about 1.5-2 oz.
The Lungo capsule I let go longer and get about 6oz out of it.

It isn’t my only source of caffeine, so I don’t mind the cost. Even so, it is cheaper than the Tully’s in my building.

Sur la Table accepts the used capsules for recycling.
