Keurig Mini?

Anyone have a Keurig mini? When I got my new counters, I wanted a smaller coffee maker…got a CRAPPY Mr. Coffee 5 cup. I really hate it. I’m thinking a Keurig Mini might be good to have (I would get the little thing that I can put my own coffee in). Anyone have one? What do you think? I do NOT want one of the larger Keurigs…the point of this is to have a small coffee pot out on the counter.

I think the only difference with the mini would be that you would have to fill it with water every time you make a cup of coffee, really not a big deal at all. With my larger Keurig I can go about 5 or 6 days without adding water. I LOVE having a Keurig. Make sure you register your coffee maker when you buy it as you will get an offer for by 2 get 2 free for the K-cups online. Get the big packs of K-cups for the best value. You will also get discounts for the k-cups via email if you want.

We got my mom one and she loves it. You fill your mug, pour it in, then put it under to fill up with coffee. It takes longer than a regular machine but the results are the same.

Any coffeemaker named after moi must be good!;)

I LOVE IT. I keep little cups of all different cofffees and tees.

We bought D1 a mini for her xmas. Perfect for her dorm room! She is very happy with it.

I bought one for my son. It’s called the Mini Plus. I think the difference is the Mini Plus lets you use different size cups and has 2 “filling” sizes.

BTW…if you have a Kohl’s % off coupon (expires today), you can order one online. Right now it’s on sale for $99, but with the coupon, it’s less.

Hey Mini…it’s sort of a Mini 2.0

We had MANY of the larger Keurigs from Costco, the ones with the water reservoir.
They kept dying after a week or a day or whatever. I think we went through FIVE of them!
Thank goodness Costco took each one back.

Finallly decided we were not meant to have one of those and bought a “mr coffee” brand K cup machine at Bed Bath and Beyond. It sounds just like the Keurig mini, you have to add water for each cup. Fine for us. Used a 20% off coupon; it was really cheap.
It’s about 6 months old and we love it.

I also got my D one for her dorm room. She loves it. I found the best price on Kohls.com with a coupon.

I have a larger Keurig in my kitchen and we love it.

My DH got me a miniPlus for Xmas. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10=best) I’d give it … 7.5.

If you drink MUGS of coffee, you can’t using it. With the little basket or with the plastic things, you should make 6 oz coffee cup at a time (assuming you like fairly strong coffee). You can’t add MORE coffee and more water because (IMHO) it tastes bitter. Plus the mini is not adjustable for bigger mugs. So stick to many dainty cups.

Second point off. … seems to me that it isn’t HOT enough. Granted I switched from a stove top percolater so had boiling (literally) hot coffee. YMMV.

But for ease of use and a quick cup (or three) of coffee, and a microwave to reheat… it is good. The wire basket is fine for adding your own coffee. I worried about plastic, until I saw that the heat wouldn’t get that hot. Still, no one needs a billion little pods of coffee cluttering up the world.

esobay…
Have you tried the Kcups that say “extra bold”? Those have more coffee in them so that you can have a bigger cup or a stronger smaller cup.

the Mini Plus has 3 cups sizes: 6, 8, and 10 oz.

Thumper…the Mini Plus at Kohls has a color choice of black, red, or platinum.

Thumper,

Have a mini… It’s nice… however you do have to add water each time you want to make coffee. The issue I have with it is the opening for your cup. It pretty much has to be a coffee mug or a cup. You can’t use the large coffee traveling mugs because they are too tall.

My sister has the one with the storage resivour which can makr larger cups and has room for the traveling mugs.

If you are checking into one, i would suggest pricing them at lowes. They had the best prices around - even with a 30 percent off at kohls.

I hate to wait for the water to heat. i am spoiled by the one with the resovoir that is ready to go when I want a cup of coffee. I have the mini at work and rarely use it.

^^

Yes, the “regular Mini’s” only fit a regular cup size. That may be why they came out with the “Mini Plus”…it allows for bigger cups.

Fender…does your drip pan remove? If so, then you might be able to fit a bigger cup under.

musicmom…I saw that Mr. Coffee one on sale at Target this week for $55. But it looked like it only made one size cup…6 or 8 oz.

Oh well…I guess I’ll just stick with this silly little 5 cup Mr. Coffee for now. I really do NOT want a large coffeemaker on my counter. BUT silly me…I thought I could find a smaller one that was decent. I guess I’ll keep looking.

mom2 - we have the mini plus, just checked. if you take out the drip pan, you can put a slightly bigger cup/mug under it but you can’t put a travel mug there. I like to make hot apple cider in the morning and for the longest time was making it in a mug, pouring it into a travel mug, then going to work. Big waste of dishes. Now I just bought travel “cups” with a lid but I have to use them with the drip pan removed.

I have both a mini and the larger with reservoir. We only use the mini when we travel. It is not as wonderful as the larger, but it does the job.

Keurig satisfies the American consumer acceptance of poor tasting coffee. It is nothing else than hot water running to a small pod. No extraction of flavor. The fact that a Mr. coffee could deliver the same taste is telling.

Simply stated, Keurig is pure crap, especially the Mini. May as well buy instant coffee. But again, people grew up on percolators and burned coffee.

If simplicity is what you seek, get a good quality French press!

^^^

lol…I have a French Press, but I hate digging the wet grounds out of the bottom. And it’s a hassle for a later cup of coffee.

I drink cheap instant at home. If I had the good stuff, I’d drink too much of it. (But I have pounds of organic Honduran and Burundian coffee in the freezer from my work, ready for guests to arrive.)

Chock Full O’Nuts is that HEAVENLY coffee…
