Kids angry about parents downsizing house?

Good question–I look at all the micmansions and talk about dens, family rooms, tv rooms ,etc, and they all sound huge to me. But my kids grew up in a five and a half room house, so everything looks big to them.

According to the census bureau, the average in 2008 was, 2,519 sq. ft. The median was 2,215. Houses are largest in the northeast (2,651) and smallest in the midwest (2,331). Size has been steadily increasing. The average was 1,660 in 1973, 1,725 in 1983, 2,095 in 1993, and 2,330 in 2003.
Wow, bigger than I guessed.

Our house is a lot smaller than that! It’s even smaller than the 1973 average.

mine, too.

mine, three!

American homes are huuuuuge and a lot cheaper in comparison to British ones. A ‘small’ house there is palatial to many of us and we manage, so will those kids.
