<p>Kids pay attention to both, more than we realize.
We may think that we want them to be compassionate, but if we don’t say so, and our actions don’t reflect our thoughts, how are they expected to learn this?

<p>Agreed with @emeraldkity4 . I wonder if any of it is a side affect of college admissions as well. I can’t tell you how many times I have felt that people on here use community service or volunteering as a primary tool to get into college rather than for the sake of the experience itself. Are we teaching our kids the right thing?</p>
