The Ellebud kids do us proud. They know who they are…some of the time…and they are right…some of the time. (Although they claim all of the time.)
Youngest Ellebud is going (or has gone)…sorry I feel like El Al,never tell when you’re going/where/etc.) to Israel for Project Birthright. So, as she is beginning to assemble things she needs an adapter…two actually. Why? She will need a hairdryer and/or a flatiron. I kinda said…well, maybe not. The Princess (MY wonderful, funny and brilliant daughter looked at me said Mother…My hair! I do not lower my standards on a vacation!
(duh). But sweet heart…interrupted by Princess…I will not have disgusting hair!!!
She doesn’t get that they will be camping several nights, and/or modest hotel rooms.
Should I mention that adapters won’t work in the desert?
I have a friend whose family went camping along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. She insisted she would only go if she could bring her hair dryer. They told her she was welcome to do so.
You can imagine her surprise when she asked, the first morning on the river, “Ummmmm – where do I plug it in?”
Solar power…not so much. I suppose that this will surprise no one: The Ellbuds don’t camp…Mr. Ellebud’s family never camped. My family went to Yosemite once…stayed in camp Curry. We lasted 2 nights. One kid tried it once…VeryHappy…the sin of omission.
Some kids are going to get serious wake up calls on ttrips like that!
My son is 31 and obviously self-supporting and on his own. But he came and asked if we had any stencils as he wants to spray paint his company name on some equipment. Turns out that we didn’t but D had some poster letters left over from an old HS project. I explained that he could lay them out and use them as reverse stencils. Son looks at the package and says, “There are only 2 of each letter. That won’t be enough.” I explain that he can paint one word at a time…
